girl next door

chapter 3- junior year

i walked into the school, harry and arizona on both my sides. chase and hannah in both ends. i don't know why but i kinda was always in front. we started walking to our lockers which were ALWAYS next to eachother, when parker lexi (alexis) and jack ran up to us.

"hey guys!" i said.

"hey everyone how y'all get here before us?" jack asked.

"my parents gave me an early birthday present" i said.

"what is it?" they all three asked.

"a car" harry and i said calmly in unison.

"A CAR?" jack yelled.

"NO WAY" lexi yelled.

"yes way" arizona said and we all laughed. we finished putting things in our lockers and walked to class. i had history with harry and hannah first so we all walked there. i sat in the back per usual and harry and hannah both sat on the other sides of me. as history dragged on i barely listened.

"harry" i whispered.

"what" he whispered back.

"wanna go to the dx for lunch and see my dad?" i asked. if your wondering, yes he still works there. mom told him he didn't need a job with the clothing line but he insisted.

"sure" he said and i nodded. by lunch we harry and i walked to our lockers meeting up with everyone else.

"hey where are we sitting today?" chase asked.

"harry and i are gonna go see my dad at the dx for lunch if anyone wants to join" i said arizona wanted to join so she could see steve but everyone else stayed. we were about to leave our lockers when jeremy came up to us. hate that guy.

"what do you want sheldon" i said clenching my jaw.

"just want to know how you did it" he said.

"did what" i said crossing my arms.

"knocked me out so easily" he said and i laughed.

"that's what happens when you insult people i care about now leave me alone id like to have a good first day" i said and we all walked to my car. we hopped in and drove to the dx. i walked in and my dad was working the register.

"hey dad!" i said and gave him a hug, then hopped on the counter grabbing chips.

"hey what're you guys doin here?" he asked.

"lunch" we all said. then steve walked in and gave arizona a hug.

"hey uncle stevie" i said

"hey guys" he said setting his wrench down. i went over and grabbed a coke setting 5 bucks in the counter. dad never made me pay the real price he just had me pay a little less. arizona hopped on the counter with me and harry sat in a chair next to my dad.

"how's work today?" i asked.

"slow but good" steve said and i took a sip of my coke nodding.

"hey harry have you thought about getting a job?" my dad asked.

"i have been actually" he said and i furrowed my eyebrows in confusion thinking he would've told me. he noticed and said

"just recently though i haven't looked yet" he said and we all nodded.

"we could use you here actually" steve said and dad agreed.

"really?" arizona harry and i all said.

"yeah i've been needing more time off so i can help get ollie places, moms been nagging at me to quit since i technically don't need a job here" my dad said.

"well h guess ya have a job if ya want it" i said eating another chip

"i'll take it" harry said taking a swig of his coke.

"perfect" steve said.

"when can you start?" dad asked

"anytime you want me too" he said.

"today works" steve said and i laughed.

"after school right?" i said pretending to care about it school.

"yes after school" dad said and we all laughed. arizona looked confused.

"you good ari?" i asked.

"i'm still processing this that just happened so fast" she said and i laughed.

"yeah you're steve's daughter alright" dad said and i laughed and steve hit his head. after lunch we drove back to school and dragged on the rest of the day. after school i went to the dx with harry for his first shift and sat on the counter as steve gave him a dx shirt and hat. he was working the register when i had to go to the bathroom. i walked into the bathroom and quickly went and walked back out to say a soc, randy addersons daughter, jen flirting with harry. i felt fury build up inside me and walked over so i was behind the counter next to harry.

"oh hi your the curtis girl, river right?" she said which was nice but i really disliked her, arizona's ex cheated on her with jen.

"yep" i said angrily.

"are you alright your face is very red" she said. ugh why did she have to be nice.

"fine" i said and walked to the garage where my dad and steve were working on a car. i sat on the hood and my jaw was clenched.

"what's up riv" dad said getting out from under the car.

"your face is bright red" steve said and i rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.

"jen adderson is flirting with harry" i said rolling my eyes.

"why does that bother you?" my dad asked.

"because it!" i started but stopped.

"i don't know honestly" i finished after a moment.

"you like harry" steve said.

"no way in hell" i said.

"that's what mae said about you at first huh sodapop" steve said and i rolled my eyes.

"i do not like my best friend" i said angrily.

"keep telling yourself that kiddo" dad said sitting on the hood of the car next to me.

"you know it used to be your dad girls came here to flirt with and your mom hated it" steve said sitting on the other side of me.

"and?" i said staring out the garage.

"now it's bothering you that it's gonna be harry instead" dad said.

"i hate you both" i said and they both laughed.

"i'm going to uncle dallys i'll see you later dad" i said and walked back to the register jen was still there. ugh.

"i'm going to dallys h" i said.

"oh okay is everything ok?" he asked.

"fine! i will see you tomorrow" i lied.

"good finally meeting you!" jen said and i smiled. she was actually too nice to hate.

"you too! bye h" i said and walked out to my car driving to dallys house hoping hannah and arizona were there.
