"I could need a helping hand. Ada could you wipe the blood out of his eye?"

I said while examining his fingers, knowing one of them was broken, not remembering which one though. When I got to the thumb Arthur tried to rip his hand out of my grip.

Found it.
"Do you have any tape to splint his finger?"
I asked into the room.

"John, get the tape."
Ada commanded while removing some of the blood on Arthurs face.
"Since when do you give orders?"
The younger Shelby huffed.

"I am a trained nurse."
Ada was so convinced of herself that I couldn't hold back a small chuckle.

"Don't make me laugh, it hurts my face."
The eldest Shelby grunted in pain.

"I bloody am."
The female exclaimed while dipping the cloth into the bowl.

"You went to one first aid class in
the church hall and got thrown out
for giggling."

A rather unattractive snort left my mouth when the younger Shelby spoke.

"Please John, just get me some tape."
I laughed, not wanting the siblings to bicker any more.

"At your service, Ma'am."
Playfully he saluted, which I half-heartedly returned with two fingers doing the gesture.

A moment later John re-entered the room, close behind him Tommy.
As first one walked past me he also threw me the tape, which I much to my surprise caught.

While I was busy taping the broken thumb, Tommy pressed an alcohol drenched cloth into the deeper wounds.

"Explain, Arthur, what happened?"
Polly requested to know, as she walked back into the room.
Huh, I didn't even notice her leaving.

"He said Mr Churchill sent him to
Birmingham. National interest, he said.
He said there'd been a robbery."

At this point it wasn't just my eyes trailing to Tommy, also Polly was shooting daggers out of her eyes at her nephew.
Meanwhile Tommy just looked lost in thoughts.
It wasn't hard to figure out that behind his cold facade he knew something.

"He said he wants us to help him."
John scoffed at his brother,

"We don't help coppers."
But his comment was diligently ignored by everybody present.
Figuring that the taping is good enough I let go of Arthurs hand and moved next to Thomas so that I had access to the eldest brothers face.
I could basically feel Tommy's critical look on me as I soaked the cloth in hot water.
