After an unexplainable accident Annabelle finds herself hundred years in the past. In the boom of the 1920s, the era of Jazz and bootleggers. But it's not just the 20s she now has to deal with, she also happens to find herself stumble right into the...
"C'mon Belle, we should have been at Charlie's five minutes ago!"
Maddy was screaming from my living room while I was hastily throwing the rest of my stuff into the rather small suitcase.
Much to everybody's dismay I once again overslept and as lazy as I was also convinced myself, I'd have enough time to pack all my stuff in the morning.
Well, thank god for Maddy, who already knew me so well as to not trust my time management. We were lucky, Charlie was only bringing us down to London and we didn't have to take a regular ferry. In that case we would have long missed it.
"Ok. I think I got everything I need."
I suddenly felt like I've never traveled before, having no clue about what to bring with me or what my absolute necessities were. Usually whenever I went abroad I just told myself, I could just buy whatever I needed there.. but here I actually wasn't so sure about that.
"Took you long enough."
If eyes could kill I'd surely be six feet under by now. I just hoped her mood would lighten a little once we were onboard.
And as if somebody heard my mental plea, it was like somebody flipped a switch. Once she saw Charlie's old face her grumpy mood from before vanished and a bright smile decorated her face.
"And you must be Annabelle, heard a lot 'bout you."
The elder snipped his cigarette stub away before reaching me his hand, which I grabbed with a confident smile.
"Only good I hope. Nice to meet you Mr. Strong."
"Call me Charlie, Kid."
The man turned around and went back onboard.
This would be another first for me. The longest time I've ever spent on a boat was for about 14h from Ancona Italy to Igouminetsa Greece.
This was about to take more than five times as long as that. The Grand Union Canal was 220km(134miles) long and as far as I remember from geography class, it would take us at least 74h to cruise it.
"Get on, kid, we don't have all day."
Oh oops, I was so in thoughts I didn't even notice I was still standing on land. I quickly made my way onboard and looked for Maddie who was already under deck.
