Coincidences

For the next few days and throughout the week, Mingi hangs around Jimin more and more. He'd accompany the silver haired boy to his classes and pick him up for practice after school. Mingi also started having lunch with Hoseok and Taehyung too. The two spent the better half of the days together.

It was strange but also very exciting for Jimin. It was nice to have someone to hang out with who viewed you as a potential significant other. The air around them was fairly different than that of Hoseok.

Hoseok was a really good friend and not shy at all when it came to Jimin, the two had known each other ever since they were young even before Taehyung came along.

They had intimate skin-ship and knew each other well.

However, with Mingi it was different. The two got along well enough. He's learned more and more about the male each day. But considering the fact that the barrier of the 'friend zone' was something that would be and was being crossed as opposed to Hoseok, Jimin felt a little bit more jittery around the male.

They held hands at times, and Jimin caught Mingi staring at him on more than one occasion. If Jimin didn't know any better he could have sworn that during practice Mingi kept his hand plastered around the shorter's waist any chance he got. It was adorable.

So it was no surprise when Mingi eagerly stopped the pair of brothers on a cloudy Friday afternoon after school, taking Jimin to the side and asking him on an official date. To which the latter agreed.

As they drove home, Taehyung began his quest to find out the details. "So, tell me. What did he ask you!?" He lowers the volume in the car and rest his hands lazily on the base of the wheel as they glided slowly down the road.

"Tomorrow. He asked me to go out with him tomorrow." Jimin answers, badly bidding the glint in his eyes.

"Oh! Okay, what are you going to tell dad?" Taehyung asks looking at the latter for a few seconds then returning his focus in front.

"I- haven't though of that yet... What if-"

"No! I am not coming with you, and don't beg." Taehyung interrupts before the latter can say anything else.

Jimin huffs, slouches deeper into his seat and crosses his arms; the pout on his face making his face look even more red and guilty.

"I wasn't going to ask you."

"Uh huh, I believe you." Taehyung responds with a light smile.

They reach home ten minutes later and head inside. What they didn't expect however was their father and Hye-jin in the lounge room. Namjoon was sitting with his tablet and Hye-jin was leaning onto his shoulder with a piece of paper in her hand.

"Boys," Namjoon calls out as they pair walk over.

"Hello boys, how was school?" Hye-jin asks with a smile. She places the tiny rectangular paper on the coffee table and sits up right.

"It was good. Thanks." Jimin replies.

"Take a seat, I'd like to talk to you about something." Namjoon says, his voice a little too serious for Jimin and Taehyung's liking. A million little stress balls start to waver in his mind.

"Tomorrow, we'll be attending an event that Hye-jin and I have been invited to, it's the wedding of one of mine and Hye-jin's friends; Laura and Wei from the vacation we once took to Singapore. Formal attire, wear your black suits and make your hair presentable please." He finishes.

"Tomorrow!?" Jimin jumps up involuntarily.

Namjoon arcs a curious eyebrow. "Do you have scheduled dance practice at the school?"

"No, but-" Jimin lingers as he looks down and quickly regains his composure to avoid looking suspicious. "It's nothing."

"Oh, Jimin, sweety are you sure? Do you have something planned?" Hye-jin pitches in.

"No, no. It's fine." He lies. Still not comfortable with telling his father about him potentially dating Mingi. "It was just a thing... with Tae. It's fine we can do it another time."

"All right then. There will be a lot of people there. I'm counting on you two to be on your best behaviour." Namjoon says finally, standing up and holding a hand out for hye-jin. They walk back towards the kitchen heading to Namjoon's office.

"Well, there goes that." Jimin says as he undresses out of his uniform.

"It's fine, you can go next week." Taehyung tries to console.

"Yeah but what do I say to Mingi?"

"Err... that you can't make it!"

"That sounds lame. I'll sound like a dick."

"Then call him and tell him so that you don't sound like a dick." Taehyung says on his way out of the latter's room.

As if on cue Jimin's phone rings. And what do you know, Mingi's name pops up on the screen. "It's him!"

Taehyung makes an unamused face, staring disapprovingly at his dumbstruck sibling. "Then answer it you idiot!" He says before walking out.

Hesitantly Jimin answers the call, waiting for the other to talk first. "Hey." Mingi greets.

"Hi." Jimin says, regretting it immediately after saying it. Lame! He yells at himself internally.

"What are you doing?" He asks nonchalantly.

"I was about to call you actually."

"Oh? What for?"

He takes a breath before composing himself. This shouldn't fell as difficult as he is making it out to be. "It's about.... tomorrow..."

"Uh huh."

"Well, I won't be able to make it and I'm so, so sorry. It's just this thing with my dad and his girlfriend-"

"Wait, wait hold on. Calm down." Mingi interupts with a short chuckle. His voice sounded more crisp over the receiver making it sound even more define. "Don't apologise, actually, I was calling to cancel as well." Another chuckle. "Coincidence huh?"

Jimin's mood lifts up slightly at the thought of not ruining everything like he had previously thunk.

"It sure is!"

"I'm sorry about that though still, I'll take you on a date Sunday, how does that sound?"

That was not really practical. The two Kim brothers never left home on Sundays, they usually lazed around the house and completed assignments. It would be odd for him to just disappear like that. Namjoon surely would notice even with an excuse or a reason his dad would insist he went with a driver.

"I'm guessing that long pause is a no then? Don't worry about it, we'll do it next week. I get to see you everyday after all, so it's not like I'm missing out on anything."

"Yeah, sorry."

"It's alright really, but anyway what are you doing tomorrow that's got you busy?"

Jimin sighs, clearly annoyed. "A dumb wedding. Gotta dress up and stuff."

"A wedding!? I'm also attending my mom's friend's wedding tomorrow, wait, what time?"

"Um, my dad didn't say when but it's for, um... Wei and-"

"Laura!" Mingi finishes and laughs at the end. "The universe works in mysterious ways, then I will be seeing you tomorrow Chim."

A small smile spreads its way over Jimin's face in realisation. "Aha, see you tomorrow!"
