The two drive back to Jungkook's apartment and Taehyung stays over a little longer resenting the thought of going back to an empty house.
He knows for a fact that his father won't be there and Jimin hasn't texted him yet. They lounge around and get a little too competitive over Mario Kart for a few hours.
It's later in the afternoon that Taehyung finally decides to head home.
"Let me know when you get home, alright." His uncle says as he waves him goodbye.
Taehyung hums, rolls up the window and drives off towards the exit. The weather had gotten so much darker, the clouds infiltrated the sun's place and a dark blanket of gloominess settle briskly.
As he drives along, the wind picks up gradually, annoying people with their hair down and tussling the discarded dead leaves and tiny pieces of paper onto the streets.
The sound of his windshield wipers startles him momentarily as they turn on automatically sensing the few stops of rain before Taehyung himself can see them. It was anticipated, with the way the weather is picking up, rain was inevitable.
Taehyung didn't really like it the when it got dark like it did now. The ominous feeling it gave off was something to be frightened off.
As if his uneasiness could be detected by god knows what, it starts to pour. Buckets, gallons of rain from the sky, hitting the roof of the car louder as well as the windshield, making the wipers move faster. Pedestrians start running off to shelters clutching their coats and bags over their heads.
He moves slowly amongst the steady flow of traffic being mindful of the puddles gathered at the side of the streets to avoid splashing people.
He hopes it doesn't start thundering.
The boy grasps his hand around the steering wheel tighter and holds his seat belt even tighter, his heart beat accelerating slightly. The rain doesn't seem to let up at all, it seems to be getting even worse, making the visibly even worse.
He eases the car into a slow stop in front of a red light.
The slow static of the radio distracts him, and slightly, if anything, sets his mid at ease. The curt sound of his phone vibrating in the middle compartment brings him back, although unwise to answer it while driving he decides to check anyway.
As he reaches over to take it, a loud sound rips into the undefined silence and scares the boy silly. A weak shrill rips through his lungs.
The sound hammers again.
Taehyung originally thought it was thunder but the sound carries again and again. It's closer than he'd like, as if someones was banging right against his ears.
Taehyung breathes through his mouth deeply. The sound hammers again, this time accompanied by a car horn. In a panicked attempt, Taehyung turns his head to where he thinks the sound is coming from.
He can't focus properly right now, everything was moving fast around him. As he turns he understands the sound and why it is happening.
Someone was standing outside his door, banging against the door itself, against his window, trying to getting his attention, and that alone spikes the boy's heartbeat up tenfolds. The person bangs again, the way they do so is forceful, after seeing that Taehyung had seen them they wave their hand around, gesturing to his door handle.
His breath gets quick, rapid as his heart tries to keep up. The person standing in the rain reaches to his door handle once he sees Taehyung not respond. They try to open it but it's locked.
The boy sitting in the car can hear the sounds of car horns angrily beeping at him no doubt but he can't move. Why was this happening? The person in the rain had on a large grey hoody with the hood up, a face mask covering his nose and mouth. They were drenched and dirty. It was a man that's all he could make out.
The banging on his door starts again, the man insisting on getting inside his car.
Taehyung shakes his head, it's all he can manage to do to not scream. Panick settles faster and faster. Something locking in his chest. The banging gets exceedingly louder ringing in Taehyung's ears like thunder.
"No! No! No!." He mouth is dry. "No!" He shouts.
