"Speaking of uhh Evan is it? Where is he?" Stef questioned a little while later as she put on her makeup for the day. Callie awkwardly glanced at Mariana,
"He's out of town I guess it's some kind of business trip"
"Okay, and what does he think about this have you told him?" She continued,
"Yes I did. He seemed really upset. He had new baby books for me" she said looking down sadly.
Just then she received a text from Evan, she smiled at the message and replied,

M: I love you. I'm doing as well as I could be

"I just feel like I'm letting him down"
"Mariana, come here" Lena said patting the spot next to her. She walked over and sat down,
"Don't think like that. I know it's hard but, this isn't your fault okay? Just like my situation wasn't my fault either, yeah?" Mariana looked down and nodded. Her mom was right. She did everything she could, followed all the rules, and definitely wasn't prepared for this outcome.
"Moms are here, so let's have a dinner tonight!" Davia said excitedly from the kitchen. Callie was standing by the counter eating some almonds for a snack.
"I think that's a great idea" she replied.
"Hey, also to celebrate  Callie, don't forget that!" Gael smiled at her.
She smiled back, things between them were still awkward but seemed to be moving forward separately. She was glad that Gael can be a friend and they could get along and have good moments without jumping into bed with each other. She liked this. She knew she loved Jamie and decided to invite him over later. She had tried to get him back so much and once he finally forgave her she started giving him the cold shoulder. Now they were finally back on a good path and she didn't want anything to ruin it again. She hoped her new job wouldn't cause issues again in their personal life.
She walked outside to give him a call.

"Alright, the rolls are done" Dennis said bringing the plate to the table.
Everyone including Lena and Stef were sitting around the table.
"This all looks amazing. Thank you everyone for welcoming us always with open arms!" Stef said smiling.
"You're all of our moms now" Alice said making everyone laugh.
"Well let's dig in" Malika said picking up her plate.
"First, a toast" Lena said picking up her glass of champagne. Everyone lifted their glasses.
"To Callie, we're so proud of you honey. You have come so far and I know you will be the best lawyer. Go and change the world baby" she said tears glistening in her eyes.
"Thank you mama" Callie said pouting. They toasted and enjoyed the rest of their dinner.
"Are you okay?" Callie said a little while later noticing Mariana was barely touching her food and looking at her phone most of dinner.
"I've just been texting Evan and haven't heard back from him for a little while now" she said worried. Part of her felt like he was mad or angry with her. She tried her best to push the negative thoughts out of her head after her helpful conversation with Lena.
Just then she got a phone call from Jesus. She knew someone must have told the siblings about her situation and wondered when they would find out.
She excused herself and went to her loft,
"Hello?"
"Mariana, Brandon told me what happened are you okay?"
"Brandon told you?" In their family secrets were never kept. This time she wasn't mad, she would have eventually told everyone the situation.
"Yeah I think he heard from Callie.. I'm so sorry I wish I could be there with you"
"It's okay, I've been hearing that all day" she fake laughed remembering Evan being gone. She was just glad her moms could be here to take her mind off of things.
"I'm doing a lot better than yesterday I'm just in a lot of pain and it is so mentally draining" she said sitting down letting her head fall onto her hand to rest.
"I love you, I know if anyone can go through hell with a smile it's you. You're one of the strongest people I know Mariana" she smiled at his comment. His words of encouragement meant everything.
"Thanks, I love you"
"Keep me updated"
"I will" they hung up after saying their goodbyes and she walked back out to the kitchen.
Everyone seemed to pause as soon as she walked in. She tensed at everyone's reaction, did they hear her conversation? Were they talking about her while she was gone? Did she have something on her face? She was confused.
She sat down and Callie nudged her arm and pointed to the other end of the table. There sitting in a cute sweater with little dogs printed all over it was Evan. She couldn't believe her eyes.
"Surprise" he said standing up and opening his arms to embrace her.
"Oh my god!" She basically ran into his arms.
"Awww" everyone said as they watched the cute exchange.
"Why are you here?" he wiped a tear that was running down her face.
"For you. Let's go to my place" he whispered.
She nodded and walked up to her moms,
"Go, be with him" Stef smiled and she gave them a hug.
"We love you honey"
She walked up to Evan as he held out his hand,
"Come on" he said taking her hand in his and walking out to his car to leave.
"You don't know how much I've missed you and needed you" Mariana said in the elevator. Her voice cracking as she looked down.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that" he opened his arms and she leaned in to him. Smelling his fresh cologne.
"Are you mad?" She said hesitantly. She was scared of his response.
"Why would I be?" He said looking into her eyes as the elevator rang reaching the bottom floor. This only made her want to cry more. His words stuck with her, why would I be. he really was the perfect guy.

"So, put your jacket up we can enjoy each others company" he sat on his large couch and patted the spot next to him.
She carefully sat down.
"Are you okay?"
"Not really, I've been cramping really bad and I'm still miscarrying it would probably take a few more days or even weeks sometimes to fully go through this" she said holding her stomach.
"Oh I'm sorry, so you want something to drink? Would water help?" Evan tried his best to make her feel comfortable but truth be told, he didn't know how to care for her going through this and was just guessing.
"No, I just" Mariana grew more uncomfortable. This was an unfamiliar setting for her and a part of her was afraid to be vulnerable with him. She suddenly felt insecure.
"You can lay down and I will bring blankets" Evan suggested as he got up.
"No" Mariana snapped then quickly regretted it.
"Oh"
"I'm sorry, but, Evan what I really want is to take a bath or a shower and then go to bed. I'm exaughsted" he slowly walked and sat next to her.
"Okay" he held out his hand and she took it.
