Late

The next morning Mariana woke up a few hours before her alarm and couldn't go back to sleep. She crawled out of bed and quietly out her door to the communal bathroom.
"Hey" Callie said causing Mariana to jump slightly.
"My god you scared me. I forgot you were on the couch out here" she said holding her hand over her heart.
"Sorry, I couldn't sleep. Actually I think this couch is the worst sleep I've gotten in my entire life" she said looking at her one pillow and blanket.
"Wow that bad huh?" Mariana said turning back around.
"Yeah, what are you doing?" Callie said getting up and now sitting at the edge of the couch.
"Going to the bathroom" she said while walking away.
"I'm going too" Callie said picking up her hair in a ponytail as she followed her.
"If there's something I hate about this place it's for sure this bathroom that we all have to share" Mariana said to Callie and she laughed,
"Is that the only thing?" Callie said going through her small toiletry bag by the sink as Mariana entered a stall.
"Ugh... hey, do you have a tampon? I guess I forgot to buy more" Callie said putting her small bag back in it's place.
Mariana's eyes got wide as she thought about what she said.
When was the last time she got her period? Mariana quickly grabbed out her phone to check her calendar: 5 days late.
She was never late for her period. She took a few deep breaths to try to calm down, maybe this was why she's been feeling sick lately? Or it might be because she was stressed out with her new work schedule and the drama.
"Hello? Do you?" Callie said pulling Mariana out of her thoughts as she knocked on her stall door.
"Can you wait a minute?! Let me finish and then I'll give you one" Mariana snapped back. She didn't mean to sound rude but the thoughts running through her head were making her overwhelmed.
"Sheesh.. okay, someone's grumpy today" Callie said.
Mariana walked out of the stall,
"Well, I'm allowed to be grumpy" she said grabbing a few tampons and handing them to Callie.
She walked out of the bathroom quickly and back into her loft. She crawled under her blanket and layed there with her face covered and thought about that night when her and Evan had sex.
It was almost a blur everything that happened, she only remembered the way she felt, his strong soft hands running across her back. His stuble tickling her neck. His delicate lips on hers. And no condom.
"Oh no" she whispered to herself,
She was so wrapped up in the moment and was scared for anyone to walk it and catch them that she had completely forgot to use protection.
She walked back out and into the kitchen to pour herself a cup of tea, maybe this would help her calm down.
She poured her cup and felt dizzy. The only thing on her mind was Evan and the possibility that she's pregnant. She wasn't ready to have kids and was completely terrified. Her mind was racing and her palms started to get sweaty.
She remembered how Callie told her that Brandon thought Eliza was pregnant and it ended up being a false alarm, she secretly hoped this was the same scenario.
She walked over and saw Callie laying on the couch again. There was no one else around and she needed to talk to someone, what better person than her sister.
"I need you. I need to talk I'm freaking out right now" Mariana said her voice shaking as she sat next to Callie's legs.
"What? Why, what's wrong?" Callie said sitting up.
"I think I might be falling in love.." she said and Callie looked at her confused.
"Okay and what's the problem?"
"You know I had sex with Evan a little bit before he left and now.. well, I'm 5 days late for my period and I'm really scared, I might love him but, I'm not ready for a baby" Mariana whispered, she looked like she was about to faint.
"Wait, just calm down ok? It might just be a little late this month, aren't you on birth control?" Callie said rubbing Mariana's knee for comfort.
"No, I mean, I was but remember I wanted to change brands then I just haven't got back on it.. I'm so stupid" she said shaking her head and putting her hands on her forehead.
"It's okay.. just go relax, go to work, don't worry about it, and later I'll buy you a pregnancy test" Callie said smiling at her.
Mariana took a deep breath,
"Really? You'll do that for me? Okay, thank you. I have no idea how I'm going to focus at work" she said getting up and walking to her loft to get ready.
Callie looked down at her phone to see a missed call from Jamie, what could he possibly want? She deleted the notification and layed down again as memories of the day before came back to her mind.
