"Did you know Bobby that most women fall in love with their protectors?"

We were still sitting on the bench. I looked at my watch. It was 12:05 am. Getting late. I could still hear the music and drunken laughter coming from the house.

"Aahh, what do you mean?'

"Well, over the years I thought a lot about what happened between us and why it happened. I've done some research and discovered some pretty amazing things about us women. You see, we are attracted to strong men. It's a genetic thing. It is for procreation and the success of the species. In nature, females are governed by an alpha male. Look at lions. There is a pride of females led by one male usually the strongest male. Wolf packs are the same as are almost all other species.

It's hardwired in our genetic makeup and even though we are a civilized species, we still have that in us. We don't need a strong male to protect us or to procreate the species any more, any male will do, but, and here's the but... women are still attracted to strong male types.

If you look at some of the most successful women, you'll find that the majority of them are celebrities of sorts. Singers, actresses, heads of state. Now all of these women are superstars and super successful in their own right. They don't need any guy taking care of them, except that is for their bodyguards. They need bodyguards to keep the public at bay. And if you look deeper you will find that almost 80% of these women have had affairs with those men entrusted to protect them. Why is that?

"Uhhhmmm, cause they're promiscuous?"

"No silly, I'll tell you why. Because there is no one more attractive to a female than a strong man and if that man happens to be her protector, then wham! Instincts kick in and that woman is no different then a lioness in a pride."

"You're saying that women with bodyguards almost always have affairs with them. I'll assume you're right that for a woman to have a bodyguard or bodyguards, she's extremely successful. That's a given, otherwise why would they need to be protected? So give me examples."

"Ok. But wait, wait, wait. This phenomenon is so prevalent that movies and books are written about it. You remember the movie, 'The Bodyguard?"

"Ohh yeah. Wasn't that with Whitney Houston and what's his name, the guy from Dancing with Wolves...."

"Kevin Costner."

"Yeah, that's right. Kevin Costner. Ok, you got a point there, but still, give me real life examples."

So, you know, Madonna had affairs with her bodyguards."

"I did not know that, but I'll assume you did your homework.

"I did. Remember Playboy playmate of the year Nichole Smith?"

"Yeah. Her too?"

'Yup, Heidi Klum, Britney spears, Amy Winehouse. Oh, by the way, Winehouse was quoted in an interview when asked about her affair with her bodyguard she replied, and I quote, 'he makes me feel safe cause he's big and strong.' I rest my case."

"No, don't rest your case counselor, continue, I'm curious now. Who else?"

"Ok. Cleopatra. She was a queen for Christ sake and yet she paired with Ceaser and then Marc Antony, two powerful men. You know why? Cause she was about to go to war and these men afforded her protection. They gave her protection. Guess what she gave them."

"Uhhhmm, whatever it was, it was nowhere as good as what you gave me."

I took her hand in mine and licked her palm which caused her to shiver in the night.

Bobbee, I'm serious. Maybe this last one will convince you that I know what I'm talking about. The woman of all women, Princess Di. She had affairs with not one, but two of her bodyguards..."

"Come on, you sure about that?"

"Bobby, it's common knowledge. Just Google it."

"I'll take your word for it."

"But there is one other woman who seduced her protector, her bodyguard and fell crazy in love with him."

"Hhmm, let me see." I reached for her for I could not resist her presence, being so close. I stuck my tongue in her mouth and she accepted it fervently as only a true lover can.

"Bobby, you were always there for me, as far back as I could remember. You protected me in the schoolyard, even though I thought I needed no protection, you knew better. You protected me from mommy by never telling on me. You put up with all my teasing and bothering you. You were like my big guard dog Bobby. I would climb all over you, pull your fur and tug on your tail and even bite you sometimes and you would just sit there and put up with me. How could I not fall in love with you Bobby?"

I looked her in the eyes and for once did not try to hide anything. Too much time had passed us by and too much life had passed us by,

"Maybe because I was so in love with you."

"You were so in love with me Bobby? You mean that or are you just..."

She caught herself before finishing the question.

"I'm sorry. I don't know why I always ask you that. But really, you were so in love with me?"

'Yes Gabby, I was always in love with you. I was crazy about you. You're a grown woman now Gabby and I'm a grown man. You think this could work? We're not innocent or ignorant teenagers anymore."

"I think it was our ignorance that made our love so great Bobby. We didn't know any better. I don't want to know any better Bobby. I just want to love you and I want you to love me like you did once upon a time. Love me Bobby, love me like you once did. Be my protector again Bobby. Be my bodyguard and I promise I will be yours forever.

I cupped her face in my hands, looked her in the eyes and kissed her nose.

"I know you're mine Gabby just like I am yours. I was put on this earth to take care of you and to love you forever."
