Ximena's POV

Mena, can you call me? We need to talk. Something big is happening.

I numbly gazed at the phone in my hand, with the text message icon beeping. I know that I should answer his request, but I can't bring myself to pick up the phone. I was lying on the bed, silently trying to dissolve through my thoughts, a tedious task.

"Mena, who's going to die?" I stared at my mate and shook my head stubbornly. He couldn't know; if he did, he'd never forgive me. "Ximena, as Alpha-" In anger, I screamed,

"AS LUNA, I'M NOT GONNA TELL YOU!" His eyes blazed with anger at my outburst. But for once, I wasn't thinking about the fury pulsing through my veins. I was only thinking of what I did to cause the death. Why were they there to begin with? Trying to control myself, I stood up and hissed, "Let me go to the house." I tried to walk past, but a rough yank of my arm stopped me. In defiance, I pulled back. "Lorcan-" My mate's olive green eyes glared at me, and I glared back. Then, I ran up the stairs, holding back the tears that threatened to fall.

For once, I don't wanna be Ximena, the Mafia leader. I can't be Mena, the older sister right now. And I don't wanna be here...as Luna. My hands hid my face, and the tears fell down harder. How was I gonna get through this-

Mena?

I froze as I heard that voice in my head. It was Rosalina's definitely. Had I finally lost it?

Mena!? Is that you?!

My blood heated up, and I bit my lip to avoid screaming.

Rosie? Oh my God, what's going on? What's wrong?

I was just missing you...and next thing I know...I'm hearing you cry.

Rosie, tell me where you are? I need to know-

"Luna, may I speak to you?" The connection was cut off with the intruding voice, and I glared at the unwelcome visitor. Piper stood in the doorway, gazing at me with some strange emotion. She had given up her spy get up and was now donning an ivory sundress that just blended in with her pale white skin. In so many ways, she was the complete opposite of me. Wanting to be nice and civil, I shrugged and sat down on my bed, patting the side. She narrowed her eyes as my gesture, but she nonetheless sat next to me. The tension between the two of us was so thick, but I held my ground. "Aleks told me everything about your...history." History? I raised an eyebrow.

"Piper, Aleks and I were never a thing. I was only pretending to be his mate-" Her voice as she retorted,

"HE. MARKED. YOU." Oh great, I had another jealous wolf on me, this time, a girl. If I've learned one thing from my aunts and cousins, Latina women were too damn possessive of their boyfriends, or novios. I could only imagine how bad it is for shewolves.

"In case you haven't noticed, I already have Lorcan-" She scoffed and muttered,

"Yeah...the puny weak human." I stiffened, and next thing I knew, I had her pinned on the bed, and my knife was held against her neck. Pure shock was left on her face.

"Listen here. I might not be able to shift. I may have never grown up in a pack, but I am the Alpha Female, the Luna. I demand respect from every damn wolf here, including you." She replied with,

"I'm only saying the truth. I'm just pissed because I was in pain for two days because my mate decided to mark a HUMAN!" She threw me off of her, and I hit the wall. I cried out in pain, but my instincts forced me to stand up. As I looked up, I saw a snow white wolf lunge for me, canines out. I screamed, throwing my hands forward and then flaming heat overwhelmed my body. My eyes widened in fear as I shot flames from my palms, and Piper shifted back into herself, obviously terrified. I tried to stop, but the fire didn't disappear. I screamed,
