Jennie couldn't answer and just pressed her cheek to Lisa's chest. Her whole body was getting cold, added by the pain she was feeling in her right arm and left thigh.
"She might run out of blood. Take her here right away," Lisa heard the rebel woman say.
Jennie's surroundings gradually faded. She felt Lisa lay her on the ground and then talked to the rebels. She could no longer understand their conversation.
"Jennie, open your eyes," she heard Lisa say in a loud voice. Despite the hardships, she insisted on following her instructions.
"Jennie, we have to stop the bleeding. Cap Solar here will cut through your pants so we can put pressure on the wound. I'll try to stop the bleeding on your left arm."
"Okay," she could only answer.
"This will hurt Jennie but still I want you to do one thing," Lisa told her seriously. "Keep calm. The faster your heart beats, the more blood it will pump through your body, the faster you'll bleed. Stay calm, think of happy thoughts but make sure you don't fall asleep. Can you do that for me? "
"Think ... Happy thoughts ... Okay ..." she said before closing her eyes firmly. She cried out loudly when she felt the simultaneous pressure on the wounds on her thigh and arm.
Jennie forced herself to calm down. She thought of her siblings in Incheon, the times her mother and father were still alive, and the moments when she and Lisa were together that even though her life was in danger, she could not be too scared because she knew Lisa will always be beside her to protect her. She knew she would not leave her...
She repeated those memories in her mind. She did not know how long she had been in that condition. A gentle caress on her cheek brought her back to consciousness. She opened her eyes. Lisa's face showed up as she stared at her.
"Your wounds are better now. They've got a car that will bring us to the hospital. It's an hour away but Cap Solar here says your bandages will be enough to stand the bleeding throughout the travel." Lisa helps her to sit up. She looked at her thigh and arm where the fabric from her jeans was tightly tied.
Lisa nodded to her then she saw next to them the rebel whom she called 'Cap Solar'.
"Thank you," Jennie said sincerely. Then hugged her and smiled. The latter smiled back as well. She was embarrassed to think she planned to take revenge on her parents through them. Now she owes them Lisa's and her life.
Then Cap Solar turned to Lisa's arm. "Are you sure you don't want to get a bandage for that?"
Jennie got worried when she saw Lisa's right arm bleeding. "Lisa! Your arm!" she exclaimed.
Lisa just shook. "I'm used to this stuff, don't worry. What's more important is bringing you to the hospital as soon as possible."
"You are lucky with her," Cap Solar told Jennie. Probably thinking that she and Lisa have a relationship.
"I think in more than a thousand ways, I'm the lucky one," Lisa said before thanking again and saying goodbye to rebels.
Jennie could not utter a word. She just sighed and then quietly leaned over Lisa's chest as they made their way to the car that would take them to the hospital.
The doctor had to sew Jennie's wounds on her thigh and arm. Those parts of her body were already bandaged. There was also a needle stuck in her hand for the passage of antibiotic fluid that is hung on her head.
