CHAPTER FIFTEEN (Safe and Proposal)

     Jennie opened her eyes but also closed them directly because of the lights.

      "Unnie!" it was the voice of her brother DK (Dong Hyuk).

     "Unnie, it's good that you woke up." Her sister Jisoo said in a weeping voice.

     She let her eyes be use to the light. When the blur of her vision disappeared she turned to the people around where she is lying. She smiled when she saw all her brothers and sisters there. Even her Aunt Eun-hye was standing behind her sister Yeri.

     "How are you, Unnie? How are you feeling?" Jisoo asked her.

     Jennie felt herself. "My body hurts a lot," she replied. Then she suddenly remembered something. "Lisa!" she exclaimed, simultaneously getting up from the bed.

     A loud "Oooh!" filled the entire room.

     Her cheeks warmed. "W-why?"

     DK and Jisoo sidestepped then she noticed that there was another bed next to her. Her cheeks grew hotter when she saw Lisa sitting on it with a serum in the hand like her and some parts of its body have bandages. The large bruises on its face turned black but even though it looked like that, she is still pretty-handsome in her eyes.

     "Hi, Lisa." Tears welled up in Jennie's eyes. She knew she looked stupid, but she couldn't help but cry even bit her lower lip hard.

     "Hello, Jennie," Lisa smiled back at her.

     Her siblings clung to each other as if they were watching a romantic scene in a movie.

     "Do you know them already?" she asked Lisa referring to her aunt and siblings.

     Lisa nodded. "That's Jisoo, DK, Yeri and your Aunt Eun-hye," she said one by one pointing to her relatives. "Oh, by the way, I believe you haven't met these guys," Lisa said turning slightly to its right.

     Only then did Jennie notice a man and a woman sitting on the side of Lisa's bed. Her eyes widened slightly when she met the man --- Tae-yung Kim

     "This is WheeIn Jung, she owns the safe house where we stayed in Batangas and her fiance Tae-yung Kim, who I'm sure you are familiar with," Lisa introduced them.

    She nodded. Who doesn't know Tae-yung Kim but even though he's handsome personally for her Lisa is still more pretty-handsome.

     "Hello, Jennie. Lisa always tells us about you," WheeIn said with a smile.

     She also smiled shyly before giving Lisa a questioning look. Lisa just shrugged it off and smirked as she sighed.

     "I think we'd better leave these two alone so they can talk alone," said Aunt Eun-hye.

     "I think so too," WheeIn seconded. "It's like they're talking without words here," she added with a laugh.

      When the two of them were finally left in the room, Lisa slowly got up from her bed.

     "Shouldn't you be not moving," Jennie scolded her but didn't listen to her. Lisa sat on the side of the bed while staring at her.

     "What?" she asked as she was taken aback by Lisa's stare.

     "Will you marry me?"

      Jennie was stunned by what Lisa said. She did not know what to answer. "A-are you on drugs?" she asked instead.

     "I'm serious."

     She is shock. Lisa proposed to her? Marriage right away? Can't it be girlfriend first? But if she refuse, now that she has given it up to her? (You know what I mean)

     "Ahm ... Ahm ..." Jennie didn't know why but she still couldn't find an answer to it. "I'll think first, Lisa, wait a minute. W-why are you in such a hurry? Our wounds aren't healing yet ..."

     "You're saying 'no," there was a chisel in her voice as she said that.

     "No! I mean, just wait, Lisa. You haven't even said you love me, 'then you'll marry me right away?"

     Lisa frowned. "Jennie, what else do I have to do to prove that I love you? I risked my life for you. I let myself be captured by Jong-In's men so that the FBI together with the local police could finally arrest him ---"

      Jennie suddenly stood up at what she heard. "So you left me in the hospital for that? You made yourself a bait to catch Jong-In?" she asked incredulously.

      Lisa nodded. "But it wasn't part of the plan that you would get kidnapped by Jong-In's men too. Until now I still can't forgive myself for letting Jong-In and his men hurt you," she said furiously. .

     Jennie just shook her head. She lowered her legs and sat on the side of the bed so that she and Lisa were facing each other. If she didn't have any serum, she would have approached Lisa and stroked her cheek. She took a deep breath. "I know you'll never want to hurt me, Lisa."

      Lisa sighed. "The FBI operatives had a foolproof entrapment plan, but the issue on command and jurisdiction with the local police got really nasty. You were hurt," she said firmly before gently stroking the bandages on her arm.

     "Lisa, no matter what happens, you will always be my superhero. Always." Jennie frowned when she suddenly remembered something. "What happened to Jong-In and his men?"

     "Jong-In is dead. He was shot in the head by one of the feds. As for his men, well, they're all going to rot in jail."

     Jennie nodded.

     "Now the only problem I have is how to make you love me."

     Jennie bite her lips and looked at Lisa. "B-but ---"

     "It was presumptuous of me to think that you loved me too, based on the way we interacted with one another when we were together. I forgot that it was usual for people to be more caring of each other in times of danger, when they're fighting for survival, "she said, shrugging her shoulders at the same time.

     Will she (Jennie) say that she loves her too? But this is also where the people who are in danger come from, clinging to love to have more reason to avoid death. What if that's how she feels with her?

     Moments later they just remained silent and busy thinking about it. Jennie broke the silence and was the first to speak. "You know what, Lisa? I think we need to go back to our previous lives first so we can make sure what we feel for each other."

     Lisa's hazel brown eyes focused on her intently. "If that's what you want."

     Jennie nodded but why is her chest tightening?
