CHAPTER SEVENTEEN (Last Chapter - Love)

     Jennie was busy sweeping the fallen dry leaves and flowers of the acacia tree in their yard when she looked at familiar bulk coming towards her. Her heartbeat quickened immediately.

     When the person got closer she saw that she was carrying a bunch of red roses and a box of cake.

     "Good Morning, Jennie!" Lisa said before handing the flower and cake to her.

     She shook her head. "Thanks. You're early today."

     Lisa shrugged. "Well, you know how the proverb goes 'Promptness overcomes diligence.'" her forehead furrowed after that. "Or is it 'Diligence overcomes promptness'?"

     Jennie laughed. "The first one is right. Come on, let's take what you brought inside."

     They were walking side by side when her brother DK called Lisa.

     "Lisa Unnie!"

     Lisa turned to her brothers' direction who was chopping down the wood he had found in the forest that they would use for cooking.

     "Good Morning, chief!" Lisa greeted her brother.

     "You're courting my Jennie Unnie, right?"

     "Yes, I am."

     "Here when you're courting, you should help with the house chores. So would you like to help me?"

     "Hey, DK," Jennie scolded her brother immediately. "Don't make excuses. Do your house chores. Come inside Lisa."

     "No, it's okay," Lisa replied, then walked over to her brother. She just followed Lisa with her gaze.

     "Are you serious?" she asked her.

     "Yup."

     Shaking her head followed with her gaze. "Okay, Lisa Unnie, first you need to change your clothes because it will get a lot of sweat and will become very, very dirty." Her brother gestured to Lisa's change of clothes and pointed to the replacement hanged near his own T-shirt.

     Lisa immediately got what DK wanted to say. So she immediately changed her shirt.

     Jennie was stunned by what Lisa did. She swallowed the lump in her throat and forced herself to walk into their house. But apparently her eyes seemed to be magnetized in the direction of Lisa and DK. When she looked back at them Lisa is exactly raising the axe and drop it down to split the wood in front of her. Jennie was mesmerize watching every movement of Lisa's arms as it chopped the wood. Add the fact that Lisa doesn't seem to be having difficulty at all.

     Jennie blushed as she recalled how Lisa had lifted her effortlessly the night they were in the mango tree and...

     She shook her head at the thought. What are you thinking about, Jennie? Early in the morning!

     Lisa spent the day helping Jennie with household chores. She accompanied them from fetching water to washing their clothes in the river. Jennie then felt that she and Lisa had returned to the days when they were in a safe house in Songsan-dong, Jeju. The only difference is that there is no more danger and they are now free talking to the neighbors. She just laughed when they teased Lisa to tell how they met. She mentioned that they first met in the cabinet. When her neighbors seem confused by what Lisa is saying, they will ask a different question.

      Lisa had only been courting her for two days but she is too excited to let Lisa ask the question again and give her sweet "YES." She is annoyed every time she sees the eyes of all women and men in their area on Lisa. She has no right to reprimand them because they are not in a relationship yet.
