CHAPTER FIVE (The Attack)

      Jennie then sat down on the chair after organizing all the groceries she bought earlier. It's been less than a minute when the door of her cousins' room opened with Irene coming out from it. Irene in on a messy ban wearing a white sando that make her black under garment visible paired with a very short shorts that seems to be very irritated looking at Jennie. "Finally, you're back! Why did I have to wait for so long just for you to come back from the grocery? Did you wander around the mall?"

      "I didn't, Irene," Jennie said with a deep sigh. "Whatever. Have you bought my Magnum Ice cream? Chocolate Truffles?" Jennie's forehead creased "You didn't mention to buy that earlier."

     "I did, just say that you forgot to write it on the list." Irene said angrily. "Buy it now on the nearest mart! Make it fast because it's so hot. I think I'm gonna die!" After saying that, Irene then went back to her room.

     "The remaining change is not enough to buy it, Irene." The latter then look back at Jennie suspiciously. Jennie then quickly got the receipt and remaining money out of her pocket and put it on top of the table. "Here's the change and receipt if you have a doubt."

     "Argh!" Irene then get back to her room irritated and got out immediately with the bill on hand then throw it at the center table. "Get me my ice cream. Now!" Irene shouted putting a stress on the last word then go back to her room once again and closed the door with a loud bang sound.

     Jennie just didn't mind her. She's keeping herself cool with Irene's attitude because she understands why the latter is like that. She's always being set aside by her own parents, prioritizing other people than their own daughter. "POLITICS before FAMILY" as what she always hear from Irene towards her parents.

     Jennie just let out a sigh and thought that even if she came from a poor family she still felt the love of her parents however they were taken away from them so early. She then stand up and went to the center table and got the money. It was a $100 bill so she immediately fold it and put it inside her pocket. She let out a deep sigh before she went out again of the condo unit then hurriedly went straight to where the elevators are, one of it is going down from the 28th floor so she press the down button and when it stop and opened on their floor she directly went inside.

     After a while she is now at the ground floor of the building, went out of the elevator and wen straight at the back of the building since the nearest mini mart is found their however she is not able to find the flavor Irene wanted when she checked the stores refrigerator and according to the store cashier it's out of stock. She knows that Irene will let her look for it on the entire district if she will get a different flavor so she went to another mini mart that is near the area to check but unfortunately still to no avail the flavor is not available. Even if she's frustrated, she still went to look for the specific flavored ice cream Irene wants and so she went back to the mall for it and used the short way going there. She only takes this route in broad day light where she knows it's safe since at night this route is dark and dangerous.

     It took her almost an hour to buy the Magnum ice cream at the mall before she was able to go back at Emerald Residences. She felt her heart beat fast as soon as she saw the police car park in front of the building where their condo unit is. She walk briskly and directly went to the security guard on duty when she got inside the premises. "What happened?" she ask the guard. "Ma'am, you're from unit two-seven-one-six, right? There were officers who search the unit without warrant. Security were immediately called by Mayor ---"

     Jennie didn't let the guard finish what he's saying and quickly run towards the elevator and press the up button. Her hands are shaking that she clasp both of it. She doesn't know how she was able to get directly on their condo unit. She saw Irene crying on the sofa while talking to someone on the phone while a police officer is standing on front holding a notebook.

     "Miss, this is a restricted area." An officer stop her when she is about to go to Irene. "I'm Irene's cousin. I leave here. What happened?' Jennie ask to the officer randomly. She then stared at the uniform of the officer and was shocked when she realized the difference of the uniforms that police officers Macaspac and Simangan. Their badge were silver instead of bronze.

     "Are you Jennie Ruby Jane Kim? If so, those suspects who harass Miss Bae are looking for you" the officer stated. "Moonbyul, here's Jennie Ruby Jane Kim," the officer in front of Irene faced her and walk near her "PO2 Moon Byul-yi of Station 10." She introduced herself. "According to the information I've got from Miss Bae the suspects are looking for you, you're their target. They pretended as police officers ---"

     "Fake police officers?" Jennie cut her off.

     Officer Moonbyul nodded "Yes, Miss Kim. We have verified the identity of the names they gave to Miss Bae. No file existed for SPO2 Joseph Simangan and SPO1 Ricky Macaspac in our database. They must just have made those names. The important thing is their motive in looking for you. They're not interested in stealing the only physical contact they've done to Miss Bae was to slap her when she told them that you're not here that time. Do you the reason why they're after you and why they're looking for you that they need to pretend?"

     Jennie went silent then thought if Macaspac and Simangan just pretended to be police officers it means they are the bad guys that time and not Lisa but why did they focus on looking for me? Did they thought that I know where Lisa is hiding?

     "Miss Kim?" Moonbyul spoke on her trance.

     She got back to her senses then shook her head. She might be put on danger if she tell them about it.

     "Maybe you have a suitor that you've busted? You know you're beautiful ---"

     The officer was not able to finish what she wanted to say when her colleague poke her. "Moonbyul stop being a Casanova if you're at work."

     "That was a valid question, Sir," she answered ignoring what her co-officer told her. "Miss Kim?" she ask again but Jennie just shook her head again. "Ex-boyfriend or Ex-husband that wants to get even with you?"

     "I have not tried having a boyfriend yet," Jennie answered.

     "Ah, I see. But why?"

      Jennie heard a loud tongue click from the other officer. "Miss Kim, please do call us in Station 10 if you remember someone that will do this to you. We will also check the CCTV of the whole building and will notify you if we get some leads on this case. I'll assign some officers as well to do patrol in the vicinity for the next twenty-four hours." After the officer said it he then called Officer Moonbyul.

    Officer Moonbyul hesitantly nod at her then said farewell to Irene as well.

     Whenit was only her and Irene left in the condo unit, she look at the latter. Shesaw her hugging her knees while seating on the sofa. After a while Irene raiseher head and look at Jennie's direction with her puffy eyes. "Papa said that he'llbe sending your sister Jisoo here tomorrow. Once she arrives, you have to packup all your stuff and go back to Incheon."
