Authors note

Hope you guys like this chapter. I really wanted to dedicate a chapter to Seth and his problems because I've been too focused on Isabelle and neglecting Seth.

Seth's POV

"I'm back." I say as I enter the living room. My dad is seated at the couch with my mother in his arms, next to him. They are sharing a big blanket with popcorn. My dad looks so happy right now. It's hard to picture a man that's so sweet to my mother, acting so harshly to his son, but it happens.

They look up from their movie when they notice I'm standing here. "Oh, hey honey. Back so soon?" My mother ask, a little disappointed that I interrupted their date. " Yeah, I was hanging out with a friend."

She instantly perks up at the mention of my friend. " Who is this mysterious friend that you sneak out to go see everyday?" She ask. Okay, mom. I love you, but stop asking me so many questions.

" No one in peticulur. Just a friend from basketball." I know it's strange that I don't want them to know about Isabelle. But, she already has enough worries in her life, she does not need my parents watching her every move.

"A friend from basketball? What's his name?" I turn to face my dad who is pulling the blanket off of him. I tense up as I search my head for a believable name.

" Daniel." I say after a few seconds. He squints his eyes at me before sighing." I signed you up for a accounting seminar." He states.

Now it's my turn to glare at him. " You what?" I don't know what I have to say to get through to him because I'm getting sick of this.

" It starts at 3 o'clock . I was going to tell you, but your always out." He says, like it's my fault I'm in the dark about this whole situation.

" Dad, I'm not going to that."

"Yes you are."

" No, I'm not." I rub my eyes tiredly. " I'm going to take a nap." I turn towards the staircase, but I'm forcibly pulled backwards. I almost lose my footing. My father looks me dead in the eyes as he says,

" You're going to go up those stairs, get dressed and go to this seminar." I try to object but he cuts me off. " and your going to smile when you get there."

I run my hand though my hair, frustrated out of my mind before going up the stairs and slamming my room door shut.

" 20 minutes!" I hear my dad yell from downstairs.

Why is he so obsessed with me being an accountant. At first I thought it was him being his normal stubborn self, but now this is getting ridiculous. I mean, everything revolves around this and it's sickening. I don't think I've ever hated a profession as much as this before.

Beep.

I look at my phone for my notifications to see 3 missed calls. I must have not noticed my phone vibrating. I click on one to see who called me; Isabelle's name pops up. I click on the voice message she left.

"Seth, please pick up... something happened...and I n-need you." She's barely able to get a word out through her loud sobbing. I push the dial button, but am interrupted by my mother entering the room. I end the call.

Why now? I have to figure out what's wrong with Isabelle. She seemed happy a while ago. I watch as my mother shuts the door behind her and walks towards me.

" How are you holding up?" She ask, concerned.

I let out a frustrated breath of air. It's gonna be one of those 'Don't let your father get to you' lectures.

" I'm fine." I respond, through my teeth.

" I see. Why don't you take a seat." She sits on the bed and pats the spot next to her. I sluggishly walk over to her and sit. " I want you to understand that your father has his reasons for being so forceful about accounting." She states like it's the easiest thing to understand.

" Well, what are his reasons?" I ask, impatiently. She shakes her head. " That's not for me to say. Why don't you ask your father about it. I don't mean start another arguement. Just ask him why he wants you to be one."

I think for a moment, before Nodding my head. I guess it never hurts to try, but If he gets defensive again I can't guarantee that I'll stay calm. " Okay, get dressed and try not to make tonight as dreadful as you feel. Your dad is actually looking forward to this."

Of course he is. " Okay, I'll try to be good." She gives me a small smile before leaving.

I guess there's no getting out of this. I hope Isabelle is okay. I can just picture her crying somewhere. As soon as this thing is over I have to check on her.

~~~~~
I close the car door and step out in my dress shoes and suit that my dad shoved at me to change into. I straighten my tie before looking at the building it's being held in, which is apparently a hotel. It has atleast 20 floors and is decked out with employees at every corner. My dad hands the keys to the valet, while another employee ushers us into the building. We make our way to the elevator and enter.
I have to say it is quite awkward, especially with the classical music playing in the background. I face my head in the opposite direction of my dad to avoid making us feel even more uncomfortable. I look at what floor we're going to and have to do a double take. I was mistaken this place is 30 floors high and we're going to the 27th floor. I watch as the numbers change slowly.
Someone spear me the misery. Suddenly my dad clears his throat and turns towards me. " I want you to really take what they're saying in. This is good information to prepare you for the future." He cups his hand around the back of his neck and rubs it. It's funny how we have that much in common, which is why I know he's nervous.
" I know we haven't seen eye to eye on this, but I really want you to enjoy the seminar. Meet new people, and most of all see the bright side of accounting." He gives me a small smile, before facing forward.
"Okay." The elevator doors spring open and I walk out, immediately heading over to a man who looks like he has a lot of connections. I start up a conversation with him and can't help, but smirk when my dad's mouth hangs open from the shock that I'm actually trying.
Let the night not be as painful as I think it will be.
