Seth POV
I dribble down the court with the basketball, faking out all the players on the opposing team. Everyone is cheering in the stands as I shoot to make a three pointer at the last second of fourth quarter. The ball goes in without making a single sound. The people go wild and my team cheers in victory. Our coach calls us in. Does he actually have a smile on his face? That's new. I look to the stands and see my mother making her way down but of course my dad is nowhere in site. I turn back to my team as they form a line to wish the opposing team a good game. Afterwards, I meet my mother at the front door. She hugs me, making me blush. She just loves displaying public affection.
" You were amazing." She smiles warmly. I wipe the sweat from my face. " Thank you, where's dad?" Her lip twitches as she balls her fist. " He didn't want to come. He's probably at home watching the news or doing paper work." I nod my head. "It's fine." I try to force a smile. I'm used to my dad not coming to my games. He always makes up an excuse not to come. My mother puts on a sympatheic smile. I hate when I get that look. It makes me feel weak, like I'm being pitied. " I have to go change. I'll see you at home." I tell her while pointing towards the locker room. She nods her head before walking out muttering how she's going to straighten my dad out. I laugh to myself. I love my mom.
I make my way down the hall to the locker room. I see Daniel opening up his locker to grab his clothes. " Hey."
" Sup, Some of the guys and me are going out to eat later. Wanna come?" He suggest. I could use a night out. I've been stressing out over Isabelle. Everytime I see her in the hallway she runs in the opposite direction. I know we ended on a bad note, but did she have to make it that obvious she's avoiding me?
It's already been a week and she looks more depressed every day. I have to talk to her but it's impossible to get a moment alone with her. I'm snapped out of my thoughts by Daniel waving his hand in my face. " You gonna answer or just stand there?" He ask a little irritated. " Yeah, let me just finish up here."
~
I exit the locker room with Daniel, heading out towards my car when I hear chanting coming from the small gym. Cheerleaders. If they're here, then so is Isabelle. I start walking in that direction but a hand tugs on my shoulder. I turn back to see Daniel giving me a confused look. " Where are you going?" I want to roll my eyes but contain myself. Why is he so clingy sometimes?
" I forgot something in the gym. I'll catch up to you guys." I shake his hand off my shoulder before leaving. I wait till they turn the corner before entering the small gym. The girls are rehearsing a routine they will probably perform for a competition. My eyes scan the room for her. My eyes land on a girl with wild looking hair and terrible bags under her eyes. Isabelle looks worn out to the bone.
I swiftly make my way across the floor, just the mere sight of her makes me furious. My eyes dart to the cheerleaders who look like they don't even notice. Did they make her like this? My anger sky rockets. Isabelle looks up noticing my piercing gaze at her. I probably looked animalistic right now. She jumps up from the seat she was sitting in on the sidelines. Rosa the head cheerleader, who has been practically throwing herself at me since freshmen year notices me too. She stops what she's doing and intercepts me before Isabelle can reach me. Isabelle stands behind her looking at the floor. " What a nice surprise." She smiles brightly. " What are you doing here?" My eyes dart from her to Isabelle. She notices this as she turns to see what I'm looking at. When she notices Isabelle standing behind her, her eyes grow narrow.
