You were part of the backstage crew of the WWE. Not as a writer, promoter, tech person, director or something like that but as a cleaner.
Actually, your role said interior caretaker but it was still just being a cleaner with a better-sounding job title.
You didn't really mind the job as it paid better than other cleaning jobs and you got to travel everywhere with them. The only thing you weren't allowed to do was interrupt or bother the wrestlers in any way.
That was also something you didn't mind as the wrestlers in question just treated you like you weren't even there. You were basically invisible to them but that also had its advantages.
Because no one paid attention to you everyone talked to anyone even when you were near, which was why you, like all cleaners in offices or public buildings, always seemed to know exactly what was going on.
It also meant that no one noticed it when you suddenly were a little less fast at your job once a certain wrestler was around.
It had been a few weeks ago at the Royal Rumble when you had first seen, or should you say heard him.
You were doing your job as usual when suddenly you heard this deep, low, sexy, masculine, perfectly raspy voice. It had disappeared as fast as it had come however.
The following day on raw however you heard it again and this time you were actually able to see the man who that deep voice belonged to. He was tall, mysterious and in your opinion very handsome. He had long black hair that was shaved on the sides, a strong jawline, deep brown eyes that appeared almost black and some very sexy tattoos which you could see since he was shirtless.
You soon learned that his name was Damian Priest and that he was a new call up from NXT. You also knew you were a goner as Damian had now become your crush in an instant.
Now, every time you heard his voice, you held back the pace in which you did your job, just so you could watch and listen to him for just a little longer. Whoever said being invisible wasn't convenient had obviously never heard this man speak as he had the voice of a god.
Or at least, that was your opinion as his voice was not only music to your ears, it also seemed to relax you and calm you down when you got annoyed at things like wrestlers just dropping their orange and banana peels on the floor instead of in the trash where it belonged.
At least this way you could listen to him talk without anyone ever noticing a thing. Which was probably a good thing as there was simply no way that a guy like that would be single.
Tonight however, you hadn't heard his voice yet. The show had already ended and since it was almost the end of your own shift as well, you doubted you would hear it tonight.
You were struggling with your arch nemesis, the vacuum cleaner, as you tried to vacuum the sand and dirt that the audience had left behind.
The cord kept getting stuck and some of the dirt didn't want to disappear into the vacuum. At one point you even got so annoyed with it that you kicked against the vacuum cleaner out of frustration.
Luckily no one was around to see it, or so you thought.
"What did that machine do for you to get so mad at it?" The deep voice you had been wanting to hear all night was suddenly directed at you.
"Crap, I'm so sorry. The cable just keeps getting stuck everywhere and it was frustrating me." You quickly explained in a panic. "Please don't tell Vince, I kind of need this job."
"Hey it's fine, chill." You looked up to see Damian smile gently at you, damn that didn't help. "I'm not going to rat you out."
"Okay..." You nodded as you tried figuring out why he would be here.
"By the way if you need any help? I can make sure your cable doesn't get stuck."
To say you were shocked by his offer to help was an understatement. You had done this job for over a year now and not once had anyone offered to help you. "That would be really great actually."
"Alright, I'm Damian by the way." He held his hand out for you to shake.
You were surprised at how gentle his touch was as you shook it "I'm Y/N."
"Beautiful name, it suits you." Damian said as he let go of your hand to get the cable of the vacuum cleaner for you.
You were sure that your face looked like a tomato now so you were almost glad that you could continue your work.
With Damian's help you finished up in no time, he had actually been way more helpful than you had thought.
As you were putting your supplies away you finally gathered enough courage to ask him what you had been wanting to know "If you don't mind me asking, what did you actually come for? Cause I'm not buying that the Archer of Infamy would just randomly decide to help out the cleaning lady."
"Didn't know you were aware of that name." He chuckled but that didn't answer your question.
"Cleaners know everything. We are invisible so people tend to talk around us as they ignore that we are even there at all."
"Is that why you work more slowly when I'm nearby? You wanted to know about me." He asked.
"Is that what you came here for? Wanted to ask me about how I do my job?" you shot back
"No, I got curious about the woman who seemed to suddenly move just a tad slower whenever I came in hearing distance. You seemed cool."
"Oh... Well thanks, and no that's not the exact reason why I do that."
"Maybe we could discuss that exact reason over dinner this Saturday?"
"Wait? Are you asking me out?" You wondered if you had heard him right and besides, how could he even be single.
"Yeah, you seem shocked by it." He apparently was also very perceptive.
"Didn't think someone like you would be single, that's all." You admitted "But yeah, I'd love to have dinner on Saturday."
After you had exchanged numbers with him, he kissed your cheek "See you on Saturday hermosa."
Guess you weren't as invisible to everyone after all
_______________
So lately I got to admit that I've been obsessed with Damian Priest. The reason for that being his voice. I am a SUCKER for deep voices like that.
I was already planning on writing this one shot when I got a lovely comment from nemracdz2 about if I could do a Damian Priest one shot.
Besides the question if I could write something with Damian Priest, you didn't have any specific requests so I hope that you and everyone else likes this one.
I'm a cleaner in real life so I took my own experiences from that job to use in this one shot. And yes, the vacuum cleaner is actually what I see as my arch nemesis. I swear those stupid things are possessed by little demons to make my life harder
Anyway, hope you guys liked it!❤️
