You and a small group of friends decided to take a trip to Australia. Just for some fun! Of course being careful with how many dangerous species lived there.

The sand was warm under your toes as you and your bestie walked the beaches, a few children roamed the beaches as well with volleyballs and Frisbees.

Half of the beach had been closed off do to Blue Ringed Octopus sightings, it was one of the worlds most venomous marine animals in the world. Its bite could kill 26 adult humans in under minuets. Tiny was mighty, the species was smaller than a golf ball.

You kept away from the water and just sat at the picnic area you and your friends made with a large blanket. Snacking on a bag of your favorite chips.

"Y/n! Come on the waters fine!" Stacie yelled for you, waving you over with her free arm as she waded in the water.

You shook your head. "Sorry Stace, I'm not risking it." You shrug your shoulders as she frowns. Her boyfriend Jake splashed her with water making her curse at him.

You laugh shaking your head as you lay on the checkered blanket, your arms laid freely by your sides as the sun shined down on you.

The salty breeze blew making you sigh blissfully, you adjusted your sunglasses and closed your eyes.

You could hear the ocean, and the cheering of the happy children and beach goers, along with the yelling of Stacie with Jakes laughter.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had woken up with a jolt, cold water swished around your feet, you sat up slowly to get a good look around you.
You were still on the blanket, with the umbrella towering over you, a picnic basket to your right, there didn't seem to be anyone around..? Did they seriously leave you?
What time was it? You weren't sure. You just knew this beach had a curfew in effect. Most of the marine animals came out at night, and no one wanted to risk anyone getting hurt.
The sun was setting, it would be dark soon. But.. A chill went down your spine, it felt as is someone or something was watching you.
The water hit your calves now, the tide was coming in around you. The sky above you was a brilliant mix of pink and orange.
"Is.. Someone there?" You call out, looking around with caution, and confusion. Maybe the coast guard would be here soon?
There was a flicker in the water, making you jump slightly, there was a vibrant blue that seemed to fade in and out. Your eyes widened.
Slowly, a long yellow tendril slithered out of the water, you sat still not daring to move as it got closer to you.
It seemed to be searching for something? It curiously moved around in the sand feeling around for.. Your not sure.
It brushed up against your knees, making you squeak, it faltered back a little suddenly gaining blue circle like markings on it.
After a few good fifteen seconds its rings disappeared, and it kept moving in the sand slowly this time.
It was a thick tendril, just about good two feet wide and its underside had peach colored suction cups, and it was long, very long.
It finally wrapped around a large shell that was buried in the sand and pulled it back into the water.
You tilted your head in confusion. What exactly was that thing?
The water began to ripple as something popped out of the water, it was.. White and boney like a skeleton? Or the top half of a skeleton monster it seemed.
They held the large shell and smiled brightly once it washed the sand off of it. They had fin like ears on the sides of its head, blue freckles shimmering in the sunlight, their eyes glowing a soft green as their fangs widened in a smile.
"Yes! Another one for the collection! Finally a purple one!" He cheers, tucking the shell away in a small bag on his side. His voice was sweet and cute with a heavy Aussie accent.
He turned around and gasped once he finally saw you, he backed away slightly. "Oh, I didn't think anyone was here.. Um.. Hello human!" He waves with his webbed hand, large claws revealed.
You slowly wave back in disbelief, yes monsters had been on the surface for a long time but you've never seen one as gorgeous as he was.
Or as large. He had to be at least twenty feet tall, he had to be a kraken of some sort, but he lacked the grey/blue color and vicious attitude.
"Uh hello? What are you exactly?" You ask him, still not moving from your spot, you weren't sure if you could trust him or not.
"Oh! I'm a meroctopus! Or.. Octomer? I'm not sure. But I'm a blue ringed octopus if that explains it!" He giggles, a few of his tendrils waved at you from the water, being bright yellow with faded rings on them. "But obviously much bigger!"
You smile, this behemoth was a gentle giant. He acted like a curious child, in an adults body.
"Wait.. Blur ringed octopus? Like the venous one!" You ask, with wide eyes.
His fins falter, folding back a little. "Y-yes? I swear I don't mean you any harm! Not all of us will attack for no reason!" He cries, a frown on his face.
You feel your heart shatter, seeing him at the brink of tears. You put your hands up.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to freak out! Its just...well.. Your species doesn't exactly have any good stories about it.." You nervously try to cheer him up, getting a little closer to him.
He sighs. "I know, I don't blame you human. But I wouldn't hurt you unless you gave me a reason too!" He smiles sadly.
You nod your head, returning the smile.
One of his tendrils reaches out to you and hands you a clam, he smiles at you. A soft green blush on his cheeks.
You take the clam in your hand and see its full of pearls, your eyes widen in surprise when you look back at him.
"Just a little somethin' to remember me by! I know you're a tourist. Your friends will be back soon, they left over an hour ago to get something to eat." He giggles.
"Glad to know they didn't ditch me. Thank you um..?"
"Oh! I'm sorry! I swear I'd forget my own skull if it wasn't attached! I'm Oscar!" Oscar says joyfully with his hand out to you.
You awkwardly wrap your hand around one of his fingers and shake it. "Y/n."
He pulls back once he hears a car coming near the two of you. "Remember me y/n! You have a spectacular name by the way! I hope to see you again mate!"
The octopus disappears into the water, the soft blue glowing going with him as you watch him leave.
Jake had ran up to you with a bag of food. "Hey n/n, sorry to leave ya, we didn't want to wake ya!"
You smile looking back at the water. "Its okay, I had some company."
Stacie and Jake look at each other in confusion, while you see a tendril wave at you from the water.
End! I hope you enjoyed our newest boy.
