Vera was flustered, my parents sitting before her, eating. I could tell within the last few weeks she hadn't eaten much, she had really slimmed down, but I couldn't find myself to say anything. I didn't want her to feel continuous about it. Besides, there was noting to be insecure about, she was still the same girl. She was still amazingly beautiful. The same breathtakingly perfect Vera that I loved with all of my heart.
I could tell she appreciated the thought of my mother cooking for her, the look in her eyes told me she had felt that terrible for not wanting to eat. She didn't want to make my mother feel as if she didn't like her food. I understand.
She lifted her fork, struggling to take the first few bites. After a minute or two she had slightly pushed the plate away, she had only eaten one of the three pancakes; two remained.
"Thank you for the breakfast, Olivia, but I cant stomach a lot of food in the morning." She flashed a pleasing smile, then her eyes had wandered over to me. She gestured her head to the stairs. I got the message.
"Yes, thank you mom- But we're gonna-" I Slipped out of my chair, waving.
My parents watched as Vera and I made our way up the stairs. We walked the hall, the 2nd bedroom to the right, my bedroom.
" That was.. interesting.." She said, giggling.
" What? The fact that my parents found us in the same bed or you being embarrassed about it." I added, laughing.
She blushed.
" I'm- I'm not embarrassed! I Just- I don't know! Your Father walked in here- Imagine my mother peeping in to say Good morning and your laying beside me! Its just- New. Its new to them. Its new to us." She said, smiling.
" You are SO embarrassed!" I laughed, further teasing her.
" Am not!!" She grabbed a pillow from the bed, tossing it at me.
I caught it, throwing it on the floor. I ran to her, showing her onto the bed. We laughed. We laid on the bed on top of one another. I love this. I love her.
She took a long breath, then got up.
"I cant stay here forever You know. I have to go home- I'm sure my mothers waiting at the door."
I laughed.
" Probably. That sounds like Elizabeth."
" We should get going. I don't want to worry her."
I nodded, getting up.
She grabbed her clothes from the day before, which now they weren't soaked, they had sat out, drying.
We glanced at each other, we didn't need to speak, we could read each other's thoughts.
Ready?
We both nodded, walking back to the kitchen.
I grabbed my keys to the counter, my parents were still sitting at the table, discussing their next trip.
" It was nice seeing you!" Vera had smiled, standing beside me by the front entrance.
My mother looked up from her laptop, glancing over into the kitchen.
" You too Dear!"
I love the relationship my mother and Vera had, mother-daughter type of thing. Im glad that at least its somebody they know, not somebody like Greyson, a manipulative stranger dating their child. It was Vera, she was no stranger to our family. In fact, my parents consisted her apart of my family, I had always considered her a Grey myself, ever since we were children I assured myself she'd be one one day. She'd take my last name sometime in the future.   My wife.
" Be home by 11, Please Noah!" My father had called out.
" Got it!"
" We love you, sweetie!" My mother added in.
" Love you too!" I had called back, then shutting the front door behind me.
We hopped in my car, the ride home was quiet, we had eachother s presence, that was enough to think about.
We pulled into the driveway, she opened her door and got out. before shutting it she turned around, looking at me, I was still buckled, my hands on the wheel.
" Would you maybe.. Like to come in?" She grabbed her clothes in which she had placed on the floor so she wouldn't have to hold them on the car ride home.
" I'd like that." I grinned, hopping out.
We walked up to the door, our hands locked together, keeping another warm. The breeze was cool, a windy autumn day. The air was crisp, it had smelt like honey.
She had opened the door, Liz rushed over just as we stepped in.
"Oh! Oh! I have to go! They just got here!!" She had spoke into her phone, then she clicked her phone, ending the call with whoever was on the other line.
"Hey!" She smiled.
I looked over at Vera, who was giggling.
" I'm pretty sure they're talking about us over the phone-" vera had whispered over to me.
They?
Who?
Why?
'They just got here' I thought back to what Liz had said. Meaning, she was talking about the two of us, Vera and I. I realized; her and my mother were gossiping to another like teenagers.
I bursted out laughing.
Elizabeth turned her head, confused.
" Were you and my mother- gossiping to another about Vera and I??" I looked up at her, her facial expression had turned surprised.
"How did you figure that out??" She laughed a bit herself, too.
"I knew it!!" I turned to Vera, who was still giggling.
" Called it!!" Vera had said back, smiling.
" Anyways-" Her mother had said, looking around.
" Is it true?!" She was examining every detail of us. She looked us both up and down, then noticed we were holding hands. I could see her making mental notes to herself, she obviously knew, she just wanted to see how long we could go before telling her.
" Is what true?" I acted clueless, holding back a smirk.
" Oh, don't be silly! We all know you have always had thing for each other! We always knew you have, Noah! Just ask the girl out already!" She blurted out, cheerfully
"I- Was it really THAT obvious?" I nervously laughed.
" Your mother and I have been betting how long it would take this to happen- since you guys were 12." She looked between the two of us, joy on her face.
" Wait- So for the past few years I'm the only one who wasn't aware Noah liked me-?" Vera had said, turning to me.
" We didn't want to force things! We were just waiting for you guys to get together on your own." Liz had spoken up, still in shock it had finally been happening.
"Whatever- I'm going to my room now." Vera jokingly dramatically stormed past us, laughing.
"Ms. Miller?" I knew I always called her Elizabeth, as she asked me to, but now I had to be formal. I wasn't just Vera's best friend anymore. I was her Boyfriend.
Boyfriend.
Wow.
I like the sound of that.
I knew Liz would say yes, but I wanted to at least be proper and ask. I knew she already liked me, I still wanted to make a good impression.
" Would you mind- if I took your daughter out- On a date?" I was nervous. I had no clue why, but I was.
She hysterically started laughing.
I stood there, waiting for a response.
" Noah, Darling, I don't care what you do with Vera, I trust you enough. I'm begging you to marry her one day. At least then I know she's in good hands."
" I mean- I- I was planning on it- But if you wanted me to move that to a sooner date-" I joked, but deep down, I knew I meant it. I was going to marry that girl one day, if not, that would be my daughters name. Vera.
" OH MY GOD! NOAH!" Elizabeth smiled. I knew she had wanted this as much as I had.
" Go find Vera and tell her that!" She pointed up the stairs.
" Will do!" I said, sarcastically, running to Veras room.
One thing was certain; I am going to marry Vera one day. I don't care if that day is tomorrow, or in 50 years. I will.
