Long Live the Queen

As Dawn was chi-blocked every thirty minutes, it was useless for her to even be in the van as they were driving down the dirt road to Ba Sing Se. The girl kept her eyes down as she could feel Ming-Hua's stare and she huffed as she just kept saying how disappointed she was in her fight. Dawn gave in and growled. "I'm sorry that I might be a little rusty and didn't use my Protector powers. I wanted it to be fair." She said sarcastically while Ghazan chuckled.

"Still can't believe you were her trainer." He teased while Ming-Hua rolled her eyes.

"Hey, it had some perks. Learned for the chi-blocker and got to see Fire Lord Persephone use her bending in action. It was good training." She said while Dawn frowned at her grandmother's name and looked away, her passing still haunted her.

"If you think holding us hostage will give you some leverage to use against the Avatar, you're gonna be very disappointed." Mako told them while Ming-Hua raised an eyebrow.

"Can't we just enjoy our time together in silence?" She asked the boy.

"And why did you need Korra and Dawm alive back in Zaofu? You had them both paralyzed. Why didn't you just take them out when you had the chance?" Mako kept asking as Dawn rolled her eyes.

"Mako, stop." She breathed out.

"Look, all you need to know is that the world is about to change, for the better." Ghazan told them.

"So you guys were, like, locked up for fifteen years, huh? That must have been, like, crazy boring." Bolin started up.

"Actually, it was only thirteen years, but it felt like thirty." Ghazan answered.

"I mean, what did you do with all that time? Did you sing songs, work on crafts?" Bolin asked, curious at what someone could do while Dawn groaned.

"Not a lot of craft supplies in a volcanic prison cell." Ming-Hua said while Dawn thought back to her master teaching her about crafts, looking at her and remembering how she actually looked before her time in prison. Short hair, fuller face, and even her clothes were blue and white to help blend with Persephone's bending colors.

"And I must have renamed the constellations about a thousand times. When it rained, that was a big event." Ghazan told everyone.

"Oh, I would've killed for some rain. Mostly I just made up stories about the guards. Who was having trouble with his girlfriend? Which one secretly wished he'd become a pastry chef?" Ming-Hua admitted as Bolin smiled.

"Ooh, okay, that sounds like fun. Let me try that on you guys. You were raised by an older sister. Your mustache grew in when you were ten. And I'm sensing- - just sensing- - an unspoken attraction between you two." Bolin finished while the two looked at each other and Ghazan smiled.

"Two out of three. Not bad." He praised while Dawn snorted.

"Him?" Dawn asked her master while Ming-Hua blushed.

"Shut up." She muttered.

"Bolin, will you stop making friends with the bad guys?" Mako asked.

"Sorry." Bolin mumbled.

"Ghazan, gag those three. We're almost there." Zaheer stated and Dawn was lifted up. "And hide her, we don't want the Earth Queen knowing about her just yet." He smirked as Dawn's eyes widened.

As Dawn was hidden in the back of the van, alone and still no bending, she was rubbing the rope against the metal bench, hoping that it was just sharp enough to break it. She started tugging her hands free and trying every few moments to slip out of the knots, and as sweat started to build, her hands slipped together and swallowed for her to be free.

She pulled her gag off and untied her feet as she looked around and saw guards around the entire perimeter and she sighed. "Stupid, none bending powers, chi-blocked, dumb." She muttered and she opened the door while sliding around the area to get inside the palace.

She run inside, hiding behind pillars and trying to get into the prison as she heard the alarm go off. "Attention, citizens of Ba Sing Se. I have an important announcement to make. Moments ago, the Earth Queen was brought down at the hands of revolutionaries including myself. I'm not going to tell you my name, 'cause my identity's not important. I'm not here to take over the Earth Kingdom. I think you've had enough of leaders telling you what to do. It's time for you to find you own path. No longer will you've oppressed by tyrants. From now on, you are free." Zaheer stated while Dawn felt the world stopped.

She couldn't stop what was happening. She rushed towards the prison as people were rioting around her, and she pushed and pulled against everyone as she ran into the cells and as she saw Mako and Bolin, she smiled.

"Guys!" She yelled, and they turned just in time to see Dawn being swooped up into the arms of Zaheer.

"No!"

"Dawn!"

They both yelled as she pushed against him, trying to wiggle her way out. "Remember that message, boys." He told them, and he flew up with Dawn in his arms as she screamed.

"Mako!" She yelled, and just like that, darkness surrounded her vision.
