Welcome To Republic City

Today was the day for Korra's Fire bending test, and Dawn was awaken with someone shaking her shoulders and yelling in her face. "Get up! Get up!The white lotus will be here any moment." Korra yelled in her face, her eyes a full bright blue from her excitement and Dawn yawned loudly, grabbing water from the snow outside her window and tossing it in Korra's face.

The girl coughed and sputtered as she let go of Dawn's pajamas. The other giggled as she watched Korra shiver from the cold. "Don't wake me up at five in the morning, you know better than that. I am a princess after all." She teased and smirked while Korra scoffed, bending the remaining water off her clothes.

"You are not a princess. Last time I checked, you picked your nose yesterday and said 'fuck' more than a sailor yesterday." Korra listed and Dawn glared at her.

"No Fire Nation people or Republic City citizens are here. It's just me, you, and Naga last time I checked." Dawn muttered, getting up and her knees cracked as she did so.

Korra smiled and grabbed her best friend. "Alright, now that you're up, I picked out your clothes and you're going to watch me do great. And then we will have Tenzin here and I can finally air bend!" She said excitedly, Dawn smiling for her friend and pushing her arm off.

"Okay, okay. I'll get ready. But you promise me no funny business. You have to have restraint and- -"

"Restraint and control. Trust me. I got it!" Korra said with a thumb up and Dawn smiled at this.

But when she watched the fight, she didn't have the smile anymore. She was next to Katara and the White Lotus leaders, frowning as she saw Korra fight the guards and basically destroy them with her fire bending. There was no restraint or control like she had been telling her.

She gave her face a palm to her forehead and looked to the ground. "She's strong." Katara said.

"She lacks restraint." The leader of the white lotus said and once Korra beat the last guard, she lifted her arms in the air.

"Whoo-hoo!" She cheered and saw Dawn's face, trying to signal her to stop as she was placing her straight hand to her neck. "Hey? Why all the doom and gloom, people? We should be celebrating. Three elements down, one to go." She said happily and Dawn listened to the Council.

"You're getting ahead of yourself as usual, Korra. We haven't decided if you passed your fire bending test yet." Her fire bending master concluded.

"Ever since you were a little girl, you've excelled at the physical side of bending but completely ignored the spiritual side. The Avatar must master both." The leader of the white lotus told her.

Korra pouted as Dawn went on. "But, she's been practicing. Every night, Korra and I try to help her with the Avatar state." She added, seeing all four men raise an eyebrow at her.

"I haven't ignored it, like Dawn said. It just doesn't come as easy to me. But that's why I should start training with Tenzin immediately. He's Mr. Spiritual." Korra told them.

"Do you believe she's ready, Master Katara?" The man asked, waiting for the woman's answer.

"Yes. If anyone can teach her what she needs to learn, it's Tenzin." Katara added, patting Dawn's back as she let out her breath of anxiety.
