Remembrance
Dawn say on the wrestling mat, looking over Mako and Prince Wu as they were starting their training after the kidnap incident. Mako wanted Wu to be prepared if the situation were to occurring again, not wanting him to get hurt if something were to come from it. Dawn laughed when Wu struggled to get his helmet on and Mako just stared over his soulmate.
The girl held herself les confident after her bending was taken and he knew that it was taking a small toll on her and he wished Korra would give it back to her. But with everything going on, Korra wasn't going to since she had problems she was dealing with herself.
"You know, there's something about being kidnapped that makes a guy realize he needs to get his act together." Wu said with his hands on his hips and Dawn rolls her eyes.
"Yeah, I agree. Let's toughen you up." Mako said, getting in a defensive stance.
Wu does so, blocking his face wearily and squints his eyes to try and look intimidating. Mako made the first punch, slowly hitting him and Wu jumped back dramatically and wailed out of pain.
"I wasn't ready! Wu down!" The Prince screamed and cradled his body into himself as Dawn sighed and got up.
"Wu, don't be dramatic." She said and there was a gasp as dawn turned to face Mako's grandmother and Tu.
"What's going on?" His grandmother asked as she went over towards the little teenager and cradled him. She turned to Mako and glared at her grandson. "Mako, how dare you injure the Prince? Would his royal highness like a cherry-berry lemonade?" Grandmother asked with a baby voice.
"And maybe some of those sticky dumplings too?" Wu asked with the same tone and Dawn laughed sarcastically.
"And he's going to get kidnapped again. Good luck." She smiled at Mako and kissed his cheek as he sighed with a slight blush to his face.
"Look at you. You're so weak, 'Wu down' is your catchphrase." Mako told him as he crossed his arms.
"I know, I'm a wimp. But it's not my fault. I was born that way. I'm not like you, Mako. I wasn't raised by a pack of cops in the woods." Wu said while Dawn raised an eyebrow.
"And what about me who is royalty?" She asked him and Wu sighed.
"You have magical Protector bending." He told her as she snorted.
"Not at this moment I don't." She said sadly and walked by the Prince and sat down.
"You don't know anything about me, do you?" Mako asked the Prince.
"Yeah, I'm drawing a blank. Why is that? How do I not know stuff about you?" Wu asked him as he got up and in Mako's face.
"Uh..." Mako paused to pretend to think. "You never asked?"
"Well, I'm asking now. What's your favorite food? What's your favorite color? How is Dawn?" He asked and Dawn raised her hand.
"Wu, you know how I am." She said and Wu sighed.
"Fine, was it true love at first sight when you met Dawn?" He asked with big wide eyes and a dreamy stare.
"No, actually, it took a while before Dawn and I got together. Even after Korra." Mako said and watched as Dawn sighed.
"Same here, Wei and Bolin." She breathed out as Wu gasped.
"You both dated someone before each other? You knew you were soulmates!" He yelled at them as Dawn laughed.
"No, we didn't. Mako and I only had our soulmate marks when Korra was dying." She told Wu as he gave the two confusing looks and shook his head.
"I don't want to know." He muttered and the girl sighed while leaning into Mako as they both sat down when Wu pointed to the ground.
"Sit. You and I need to have a little gab session right now. How did you guys first meet?" Wu asked and Dawn sighed.
"Bolin and I were playing for the Fire Ferrets." Mako said and Wu jumped in.
"You were a pro-bender?" He asked excitedly and Dawn nods her head.
Mako sighs and rubs his face. "Yes. Will you just let us tell our story?" Mako asked.
"Carry on." Wu smiled happily.
"Bolin and I grew up dirt poor, so once I became a pro-Bender, I wanted it all: riches, fame, accolades. But all that changed when I met Dawn." Mako said and Dawn 'awwed' at that.
"That's kinda sappy, but I'll let it slide." She whispered and he chuckled. "He was an ass the first time we met, the boy just ignored Korra and me and focused on his game. That was until he found out why Bolin liked me so much." She teased with a flip of her hair.
"Whoa, that was the first time you met? Kind of rude there, buddy." Wu said as Dawn nods her head.
"You know what else is rude? Interrupting." Mako said and then thought for a moment. "Korra had been placed in the pro-bending arena with us, making Dawn our captain and she is amazing. She helped us bond and we worked together a team after only knowing each other for less than an hour." Mako said as Dawn smiled.
"That's my job. And Mako helped me see that Korra didn't need to be babied all the time. It helped show me that sometimes space is a good thing when it comes to every kind of relationships." She said and held his hand, thinking for a moment.
"That was until he put Asami in the mix and it just made things even more confusing." Mako whispered and Dawn sighed.
"Asami helped with getting the team a sponsorship, and there was a weird love fest going on with everyone and Mako started dating Asami, which caused Korra to be upset at Mako, and then Bolin to be upset at Korra." She told Wu who raised an eyebrow.
"Very weird." He whispered as Dawn laughed.
"I only dated Asami to try and make Dawn jealous." Mako said bashfully and Dawn turned around to glare at him.
"Just like your grandfather." His grandmother scolded.
Mako rolled his eyes and sighed in acceptance. "Fine, everything that I did was bad. But in the end, I realized that Dawn was meant for me when she was captured by Tarrlok. I knew that she needed someone who was going to not just be with her, but protect her. She was so focused on Korra that she never realized that she was important too." Mako finished and Dawn smiled widely at the boy and blushed.
"Awww, I hope my soulmate feels the same way." He said happily and Dawn looked at Wu.
"You better hope your soulmate can handle having to go shopping and get mad facials every day." She chuckled while Wu gasped dramatically.
"I hate to tell you this, but Mako actually enjoyed that." He told her and she laughed slightly as Mako hid his face.
