22. Memories

I feel asleep in the Car ride. When I woke up I noticed the Winter Soldier shaking me. "You have to get up." he said in an almost soft tone.

I nodded and got up. I hoped out side the car and stared t the building, it was a warehouse that looked old and run down. The Winter Soldier grab my should and lead me inside. I walked threw the doors and saw a lot of technology. But I mostly saw cells and prisons. I walked threw a large prison and was sat down in a car (No not that chair).

An older man walked in, and the Winter Soldier let me go and walk back to stand next to other people who were in the fight.

"Nicole Beckett." The man said "My name is Alexander Pierce, I'm the leader of Shield and Hydra."

I clenched my fists. "Why is she still alive?" Pierce asked. no answer. "Alrightly then kill her."

One of the men standing next to the Winter Soldier grabbed his gun. "Wait." the Winter Soldier muttered but the man ignored him. I was about to use my powers before the Winter Soldier attacked the man making him drop the gun. All the guns were now pointed at the Winter Soldier.

"Stand down." Pierce said. "Go back to your cell Soldier."

The Winter Soldier moved out of this cell and walked down the hall until I couldn't see him anymore. "Move her to a cell." pierce said.

The man gripped my shoulder and forcefully walked me to a cell. On my way I saw The Winter Soldier in his own cell. The man unlocked the cell next to his and threw me inside. The Winter Soldier watched it happen.

The cell I was given was dark and cold and small. I was surround by concreted on the two walls the other two were made of bars  I could see directly into The Winter Soldier's cell, he had a much bigger cell. He was lying on the hard ground staring at nothing. I sat down near the bars to his cage. I stared at him looking at nothing. I looked into the features of his unmasked face, I remembered something again but it left before i could remember. He look at me "you could break out." He told me "Easily"

I thought about it before saying "So could you."

The Winter Soldier's eyes furrowed in confusion "Why would I?" His voice sounded cold.

I shrugged and turned to look away. I stared at the wall for what felt like forever. I started to play with my powers, I tried learning somethings, I found I could make a purple fire like plasma thing.

I played with this for a while before I stopped and sigh, looking over my shoulder I found the The Winter Soldier staring at my powers and he was closer now, when he noticed that I found him staring he looked away. I smiled at this thinking about how he found my powers amusing.

"Hey look at this." I say moving so my body would be facing his. Hesitantly he slowly look over at me. I used my powers to create a little ball.  The Winter Soldier slowly moved closer to me until the bars were the only thing that was separating us. He held onto a metal bar with with metal arm. I smiled, The Winter Soldier slowly reached him real hand down to touch the ball. I pulled my hand away making him almost flinch and he looks at me in confusion.  "I might hurt you, I don't wanna do that." I explain

The Winter Soldier furrowed his eyebrows in confusion "Let me," he said in a soft yet demanding tone.

I bite my lip and sigh, but I hold out my hand and the same ball grows in my hand, The Winter Soldier reaches out his hand and touches it, to my surprise he isn't hurt. his lips slowly turn into a smile. I stare at it, It reminds me of someone but I cant see there face. The Winter Soldier suddenly grabs my hand and pulls it up to his face, I flinch at his reaction, but he looks into my eyes and it calm me. He then looks back at my hand. "It's healing" I says as I realise he's looking at my scar.

He lets go of my hand and looks into my eyes. Suddenly two men come into my room and pick me up. They walk me into the room I was in before, and pierce is there.

"What are your friends planning to do?" He demands

"Why should I tell you." I scoff

"So when I find them I wont make you kill... Viper." He smiles

The word Viper brings back memories good ones and bad ones, I remember Howard giving me the name, and I remember killing people with it. I remember when Hydra tortured me, they used Russian words to control me to make me kill.

"I'm not telling you, they live no matter what." I say

"Are you sure." He says bending down to my level.

"Positive" I say while I spit in his face.

He closes his eyes and wipes the spit of before punching me in the face, my nose starts to bleed slightly, "Put her back in her cell" Pierce booms

The two men grab me again and throw me into my cell. I stay on the ground for a moment holding back tears. I look up and flinch at The Winter Soldier who had snuck up on me. "Oh! Jesus," I breathed calming down.

The Winter Soldier reached down through the bar and grabbed my chin gently, he pulled me closer, causing me to widen my eyes in alarm. He brought my nose close to his face, wiping away the blood with his free hand. He had a worried look on his face "...they hurt you?"  He sounded baffled. I grabbed his hand and pulled it away from my face. "I'm okay."

His eyes still had a concerned look in them. I look around making sure no one would hear what I was about to say. "Listen, I'm gonna break outta here."

The Winter Soldier let go of my face and leant back straighten his posture, He was about to alert the guards, I reached threw the metal bars and grabbed his hand. "I need you to not tell anyone, please it needs to be a secret."

The Winter Soldier gave me an unsure look in his face and then almost look angry, "I don't take orders from you." He said his voice sounded hostile and confused.

I shook my head and smiled "Its not an order I'm asking you please."

I watched his eyes travelled down to our hand holding each other. He squeezed my hand and smiled. He liked holding my hand. "I have to go now," I told him "You need to keep this a secret, please."

The Winter Soldier lifted his hand up to my nose once more and wiped the blood that manged to get out. He then looked into my eyes, I watched a mixed of emotions flash in his eyes. "Why do you trust me..."

I took a moment to think. I didn't know why I trusted him. I fell asleep in the car, and he could of killed me, but didn't, he held my hand and didn't break it, he let me live, he helped me. "Because we're friends."

"Friends..?" The Winter Soldier repeated.

I smiled in amusement, I took his hand away from my face and held his with both my hands. "Yeah, do you wanna be my friend?" I ask smiling.

The Winter Soldier was speechless, i saw that no one ever spoke to him with such kindness in a long time. He smiled slightly and nodded. "Mine."

I blushed slightly at his words, I knew he'd taken it in a different way then I intended, but it didn't matter right now, I needed The Winter Soldier to trust me in order to get out. "yours." I said making my heart flutter. Maybe if he wasn't working with Hydra I wouldn't mind being his.

The Winter Soldier's eye widened at my answer. I stepped out of his grasp, and used my powers to open the door but caught it before she alerted the guards. The Winter Soldier watched everything play before him. But before I left he grabbed my hand stopping me in my paths to escape. " I will come back. I'll come back for you." 

I smiled and he let go of my hand, then I set off.
