Afterschool the next day, I had another lesson for the week. Seeing Arima-senpai twice a week has always been a nice way to relieve some stress.

Walking into the school practice room, Arima-senpai is already there and has it set up again for our weekly use.

"Hello, (Y/N)-chan. How are you doing this afternoon?" he asks me, sending over a smile.

"I'm doing alright, how about you?" I ask, setting my bag down.

"Same as you, same as you."

I move to take out Liebesleid, but am stopped almost immediately.

"Today's going to be a bit different," Arima says, clapping his hands together. "I received a very special invitation over the past few days. Shido, as you know, is running for Prime Minister. He's having many events to help boost his campaign and has requested that you play at an upcoming one a few weeks from now-"

Shocked, I interrupt him. "Wait wait. The politician, Shido, wants me to play at an upcoming event?"

"Yes, specially requested you."

I ended up falling down into a seated position on the piano bench.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really find Shido to be the best person in the world like most people in the area, but playing for him wasn't really something that could be ignored. It's like being told that you could get what you wanted with a snap of someone's fingers.

"What am I to play?" I asked, voice shaky.

"He asked for anything prepared as well as something to play in the background. Since Liebesleid is to be debuted at your audition, that is out of the picture. I figured we should pull back up some things not done at auditions as well as some winning pieces."

"Today, however, I thought it would be good to come up with your background piece."

Nodding my head, I turn to face the piano. What would be acceptable to play at an event that Shido would enjoy?

My head had created a tune not long ago, but I hadn't had a chance to further develop it. Maybe now was the time to do that.

Moving my right hand up to the piano, I pluck out the tune.

Arima looks up at this and says, "Add some bass. Try a simple arpeggiated version as well as the basic chords themselves."

Making these changes, I now had both hands on the keyboard. I slowed down the tune a bit and started to add some basic jazz elements that fit well as background music.

Arima came and stood behind me while I worked, making small suggestions as it went along. By the end of our hour and a half, we had a basic layout of the piece.

"That's sounding pretty good. I would suggest some fancy opening to perk people's interest, but other than that, the melody you've created is beautiful," Arima-senpai says with a nod.

"My mom's going to be so thrilled I landed this. She's always happy to see me getting recognition for what I do," I comment absent-mindedly.

He chuckles before saying, "I definitely see that (M/N)-san would be ecstatic. Would you tell her I said hello?"

"Yes, of course. I'm sure she also expects that you're going to stop by for dinner some time soon." I turn, giving him a flashy smile. "Besides, I think she misses your playing. My playing goes as far as motherly love and that's about it."

"Let her know I will be stopping by soon once I get some things sorted out. Believe it or not, I miss her cooking." Closing his satchel, he throws it over his shoulder.
