sorry for the accidental update notification?!?!? no clue how that happened, so I added an extra little scene
Stepping into the cognitive world of Maruki, I looked down to see the familiar garb of brown leather and red cargo pants with a sigh of relief. That was quickly taken away, though, with the sight of long red hair belonging to the small gymnast.
"Why are you here?" Akira asked, stepping to the front of our party.
"You're going to fight Dr. Maruki, yes?" Yoshizawa tilted her head apprehensively. "Please, take me with you!"
"Might be a bit hard if you're dressed like that," I commented.
"Please? I'm done running away."
She removed a hair ribbon from her coat pocket and while she tied it up, blue flames burst around her. Yoshizawa's outfit changed to one of her true desires.
"I can't keep relying on people, like Akira-senpai. . . I want to live life as Sumire!"
"Heh," Morgana laughed. "Color me impressed."
"Looks like she'll do just fine here," Ryuji added.
Sumire smiled at our resolve. "Thank you."
"Oh, we gotta come up with a code name for you!"
"A what now?"
"It wouldn't be right if you were the only one goin' by your real name, y'know?"
"Joker, got any suggestions?" Morgana asked.
"How about Violet," Akira threw out there.
"Oh, that's right!" Ann beamed. "'Sumire' in English is 'Violet' . . . Yeah, that sounds awesome!"
"Violet it is," Sumire concluded.
"Excellent! Now remember everyone, 'Violet'! Not 'Violent,' "Violet'!" Futaba clapped her hands, before nudging me in the side.
I grabbed Futaba's elbow with a laugh. "I think I'm gonna call her 'Violent' just because you said that."
Sumire appeared to hear none of that, thanking Futaba for the clarification.
"That girl is so deaf," Akechi said, shaking his head. He looked down at me through the hand on his head, saying, "You have to understand why I left these fools."
"Oh, you know you love them," I joked.
"Are we done now? We really should get going."
"You heard it here first, everyone! Crow is ignoring me because he actually loves you guys!"
Akechi tugged on my arm to make sure I would keep up with everyone else, who had already started walking towards the elevator. The face beneath each mask portrayed no care towards my previous comment, which immediately got me thinking.
"Man, nobody seems to care for your love. That's gotta hurt." I shook my head, placing a hand on my heart.
"You do realize," Akechi paused to look down at me, "the only love I care to receive is from you."
I stopped in my tracks. "Damn, when'd you learn to be so smooth?"
He leaned down, closer to my ear. "I thought you had already gathered that much a few nights ago."
"Well, fine, mister. You win this round."
Once we had made it to new territory, we were greeted with more pale color scheming of cremes, whites, and silvers. Ryuji congratulated the group on this fact and made some goofy steps forward, when Haru's words stopped us.
