Akira looked down sullenly. "It's time we return to the original reality." Returning his gaze to mine, he smiled. "We can't keep living in a fantasy."

I smiled back, watching Akechi slowly nod his head in agreement. "I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way."

"Alright, we're all here," Makoto stated once everyone was seated around the table.

"It's time. . ." Haru began. "Our final battle."

"As expected, Maruki came by LeBlanc last night. My life was dangled above these boys, but they ended up making the right decision." I said, patting Akechi's hand.

Morgana nodded. "Akira handed him the calling card at the end of their discussion and he left."

"I doubt Maruki is still interested in discussion. There's no turning back now," Akechi concluded.

"Ain't no way we're turning back now!" Ryuji smiled. "We're gonna confront Doc in his Palace and show him what's up, and go back to our own reality- right, Akira?"

"Right," Akira said, leaning forward to put his elbows on his knees.

Yusuke moved from his leaning position to stand on two feet. "It appears we're all ready."

"It's time for us to take back what belongs to us: our own reality."

Later that evening, we gathered in front of the entrance to Maruki's Palace, quick to make our way towards the paradise garden. The dead-end stairwell hadn't changed, but this time, we were greeted with Maruki's voice instead.

"I see you made it." He paused, letting the tree light up to show off the newly placed glass panes. "Come on up. . . I'll meet with you at the center of paradise."

A bright light flashed and the glass panes morphed into a set of stairs spiraling up towards the top. With nothing left to do down here, we made our way towards the top.

It's a dying cause. . . why are you doing this?

I paused in my movement, staring at the panes as they shined beneath my boots. In all the beauty, I was caught up on the negativity.

What if you don't succeed? You're just endangering your friends.

"(Y/N), are you good?" Akechi asked, lightly grasping my arm in an effort to move me forwards. "The others have kept moving."

"Yeah, I guess the fear of it all has set in." I spoke, moving my head to watch the lights dance. "I can't help but think all of this is beautiful, even if it is corrupt. . ."

The hand that was resting on my arm slid down to hold my hand. The warmth of his hand in mine caused me to look at him and smile.

"We're so close now, okay? I know we can carry this to the end," Akechi said.

"Hey!" Ryuji called from above. The rest of the group had paused at the sight of our absence. "What're you guys doing down there? We've got a reality to change!"

I laughed at his eagerness, noting the smiles everyone else carried.

"See?" Akechi commented. "We're all here to make this dream of ours succeed."

I grasp his hand a little tighter and catch up with the rest of the group. The top was right in front of us, and so was the man who had patiently waited for the fruition of our decisions.

Maruki greeted us with a pained smile. "It looks like I have your answer."

"It's time to finish this," Akira replied.
