Akira's POV

"So. . . what's so important about this smartphone?" Sae asked me from across the interrogation room table. "Are you going to unlock it and show me the data?"

"Show it to the traitor," I said lightly, still slightly under the effects of the drugs they had pumped through my veins.

"The traitor?"

A voice rang in my head, but I couldn't quite remember who it was. . . or when I had heard his words. He talked of his plan, "We could say he stole the guard's gun and committed suicide during his imprisonment. . . How about that?" The voice paused for a second. "Public security questioning will occur on the first day. . . and with that room, my task will be simple. And thus, the dangerous criminal responsible for the mass mental shutdowns shall end his own life."

Sae slammed her hands on the table, waking me from the trance. "Please! I need you to be clear with me! Who am I supposed to show this to?

"Not a teammate. . ." I said, vaguely elaborating on what I had already told them.

"Not a teammate," Sae repeated, laying back in her chair. Quickly gasping, she had figured it out. "My god. . . You're referring to him, aren't you?"

"You need to trust me."

She sighed deeply.

"What are you plotting? I can't even begin to fathom it." She looks towards the door briefly. "But it appears my time is up. This is as far as our conversation can go. This will be my last involvement with this case. . ."

We chuckled lightly together.

"Very well," Sae continued, her eyes softening slightly. "I've listened to your whole story, so I may as well play along to the end. And that honest look in your eyes. . . I used to view the world the same way too, once. I'll place my bet on you. I just need to show him the phone, right?"

Taking the phone, she left the room without another word.

Akechi's POV

After my talk with Sae, I felt free of anything holding me down. I was one step closer to success; one step closer to taking Shido down; one step closer to freeing (Y/N) from the blackmail that held her back.

Screw those Phantom Thieves. Their days of fun are over.

Putting on a good act, I was able to convince the guard stationed outside of Akira's room to head in there with me for "protection." It was almost laughable at how easily he ate up my words.

The door shut firmly behind us and I took this as my chance to grab the silencer gun from the guard's hand and shoot him straight through the head.

Trying to stabilize himself from the shock, Akira had his palms flat against the cool metal of the table.

I breathed heavily, before speaking up. "I owe you for all of this. . . Thanks. That's right. You and your little friends were vital to our plan. And now, it will be completed." I kept my eyes trained on the body, making sure he stayed down. Laughing slightly, I continued, "Your popularity truly was quite stunning. That just made using you all the more worthwhile. . ."

Smoke rose peacefully from the silencer gun, mocking the brutality of the committed act.

You see this body, Akira? That will be you all too soon. . .

"Have you finally pieced it all together?" Smiling, I fixed my black glove, and turned to face Akira. I held the gun straight to his forehead, as an acknowledgement of his blank stare, and couldn't withhold another laugh. "Case closed. . . This is how your 'justice' ends."
