A/N: Heyo! Time to bring out the bag of excuses for why I haven't updated and tbh, I'll blame school and the fact that I wrote over 4600 words for a Promised Neverland oneshot (that is now posted) sooooo yeah (⊙_⊙;) Sincerest apologies and if you've stuck around, I really appreciate it!
"Hey, (Y/N)," Haru called out to me. "I didn't know we took the same train!"
I hummed, tapping a finger on my chin. "I think it's just that we're heading over to LeBlanc's. I live that way anyways."
"Oh," she said quietly with a laugh. "Silly me."
We began to make our way down the walkway so that we'd arrive at the correct train. Both of us were quiet around the hustle and bustle of the extremely busy station.
"You know," Haru started, "I was thinking about how well we work together and I know you haven't been with the Phantom Thieves long, but would you want to come up with a special attack with me?"
"Ooo, I think I have one of those with Black Mask. . . having one with you would be pretty cool!" I responded. "Got anything in mind?"
One thing that almost immediately stood out to me about this palace was the never-ending back hallways. Everything looked the same and if I didn't remember that I was in Sae's casino, I would've thought I was back in some sort of warped Mementos.
Thousands of posters lined the walls with brief sayings; tubes ran across the top of each wall, blowing tons of cards around the casino. I couldn't actually figure out a good reason as to why those existed. Nevertheless, they sure as hell looked cool.
Sighing, I watched from a distance as the main team of four attacked a security guard from behind. The personas vaguely look like something you'd see on a Queen album.
"Those bitches are glad I'm not there," Ryuji said, rolling his arms back and forth impatiently.
Makoto sighed. "You're just impatient to lay a punch."
"Lay off it, Skull! You'll get your turn," Ann said in an annoyed tone.
Let's just say, being on the B-team is not my favorite position.
Stretching my own arms above my head, I watch the battle come to a close. Akira nods our way, holding up a hand with a key card as they make their way out of the room. Team B is close to follow and my eyes continue to trail my surroundings.
I actually began to start hating these hallways. To me it just felt like we were going in circles no matter which way we took. Every single one looked the same and shadows swarmed all of them.
"So this is what every palace ends up being like?" I joked towards the teammates waiting around me.
"God, it was bad in some of the palaces," Ann complained. "Especially in places like Futaba's Palace and Okumura's."
Makoto jumped in, "I know they were meant to be puzzles, but it still made my head spin."
"Woah. . . is Makoto admitting she's not as mentally adept as she puts out to be?" I asked.
Makoto harrumphed as Ryuji laughed, saying, "Welcome to being an 'average Joe.'"
By the time we caught up to the other group, they were waiting outside of a control room.
Joker made a few swaps, and I was lucky enough to make it on the front lines of this battle.
We greeted the shadow standing inside the one way we know how: slamming it in the head with a grappling hook to knock off it's mask.
I laughed at how it stumbled, Akechi giving me a look to say I was hopeless, before it abruptly stopped due to the size of the shadow. It had taken the form of an elephant all decked out in golden regalia.
