A few seconds passed before Barry and I arrived for our date. He set me down so I could walk and take a look around. It was amazing.
We were on a reserved balcony at a place called Paperclip. A few tables with candles sitting on them were set up near the railing, which overlooked the bay, and in the distance was the heart of Central City. The sun released an orange blanket across the sky as it declined towards the horizon. The sunlight glittered on the blue water below.
"This is...wow." I marvel at the beauty displayed before me.
"I hope that's a good thing. Happy Valentine's Day!" Barry says as he moves my chair so I could sit down. Then he awkwardly sat across from me.
"You too! Barry, this is amazing!" I gesture with my hands.
Barry smiles and nods in agreement. An awkward silence followed. I have no idea what to say, so I look down at my hands. Barry clears his throat, causing me to raise my gaze to him.
"Um..." he reaches down to his pocket, not meeting my eyes.
"You finally going to tell me why you've been acting strange?" I ask, resulting in Barry widening his eyes.
"Uh, yeah...yeah." He nodded a little too enthusiastically. Before he has a chance to continue, the waiter approaches us.
The waiter seemed a tiny bit familiar, but I don't know why. He had natural red hair, a light tan, brown eyes and a crooked smile. Where have I seen him from?
"May I take your order?" He asks in a deep voice.
"We'll have today's special, please." Barry speaks up. Aww, he ordered for me. Am I blushing right now?
The waiter writes down the order and starts to walk back inside the restaurant. Before he did, however, he glanced back at me; checking me out. Ugh, gross. Barry saw him do it too, and glared at the man.
"Do you two know each other?" Barry asks after the man left.
"No, but he seems really familiar. So how'd it go at Star Labs?" I try to distract myself from the man staring at me a few moments ago by asking Barry a question.
"It was fine. They found a meta-human downtown with the ability to freeze everything in sight." He says quietly. I didn't blame him; not everyone knows about these super-humans. Those who do keep it a secret.
"So like, ice? Do you need help unfreezing stuff?"
"No, we got it under control. But thanks anyways."
We stayed quiet until the same wait or brought us our food. He kept looking over at me, causing me to shift in my seat.
When he left, I spoke up. "That guy's creeping me out."
"Same here." We start eating.
What's wrong with us? We're never this quiet or awkward around each other. I set my fork down on my plate and watch Barry. He sensed me looking at him, and stopped with his fork near his mouth.
"Why're you staring at me?" He holds back a laugh. "Did I do something wrong?"
"What? No...I just...um," I stutter. "Geez why are we acting so awkward around each other?"
"I know why I am, but what about you?" He sits back with a smug smile on his lips.
I shrug, "Maybe your awkwardness is contagious...?" We chuckle.
After we finished eating, we stood up and walked to the railing. Barry stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
The sun was no longer visible, letting the night sky take over. I could see a few stars watching us from above. A cool breeze shifted my bangs to the side of my face; or at least, I felt them shift. I can't see my bangs from the right side because of my now white and completely blind eye.My heart is racing, though I don't know why. Barry and I have always been this close, so it shouldn't be a surprise.
The top of my head had a little more weight added to it, indicating Barry's chin was on my hair. "Megan...?" He asks nervously, grabbing my attention.
"Yeah?"
Barry's left arm moves away from me and returns with something in it. I couldn't see exactly what, because his hands covered it up. He then turns me around so we'd see face-to-face.
"Megan, we've dated for almost a year now, but it's felt like forever to me. In a good way, of course. I love you, Megan, and it will stay that way even after the end of time. After we both die and meet The Lord himself. No matter what happens, I'll always be there for you.
"I know I've been acting weird for awhile, along with everyone else. I apologize for not telling you the reason, because the reason was tonight. I couldn't think of a better time to do it." I give Barry a confused look, prompting him to continue. "The truth is, I told everyone about tonight, making them keep the secret. That's why they've been acting strange.
"I'm so lost." I say a little overwhelmed. I have no idea what he's getting at.
Barry laughs a little and scratches the back of his head, "Hey, this isn't as easy as it looks, okay?"
What he did next made my heart almost stop. Made me hold my breath. Made tears immediately fall from my eyes once the initial shock wore off.
He gets down on one knee, revealing the object he's been holding in his hands and opening it. Inside was a diamond ring. My eyes widen as he speaks in a calm, slightly nervous tone. "Megan Ortiz, will you marry me?"
"You didn't need to ask! Yes!" I answered while smiling through tears.
No matter what the circumstances, I'd always say yes to him. I love him enough to know that.
As soon as Barry got back on his feet our lips connected. I wrapped my arms around his neck and his arms were at my waist. My fairy tale came true.
Barry's the best thing that's ever happened to me. He's sweet, funny, and it's the cutest thing when he gets excited about anything that has to do with physics. It's really hard to find those same qualities in a guy. He's one of the few guys who do have them. His humor brightens every day of my life. His passion for fighting crime and his job as a forensic scientist is inspiring.
As we kiss, Barry lifts my hand and puts the engagement ring on my ring finger. My life with Barry was just getting started.

Awwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!! Too much cuteness!!!!!!
Sorry for the short chapter, I really didn't want to write anything after the date, because to me that ruins the cute moment. It's one of the reasons why I kept the date scene desperate from the previous chapter. To me, this had to have its own chapter.
What do you guys think of the waiter? Who the heck does he think he is checking Megan out? Something about that guy is really freaking me out....
Also, sorry for grammar/spelling mistakes!
