~~~The next day~~~
After the phone call last night, I haven't been super focused. I mean, who would? It's not every day that your angry best friend wants to talk to you. Especially if you are the reason why they're mad. And to be honest, I'm not even sure if we're even friends anymore.
After work, I took a stroll to Jitters. Barry was at Star Labs, helping Cisco with something. I'm not sure what he was helping with, but it must've had to do with the case we were working on this morning. Some meta-human showed up to rob a bank and killed five people. Barry and I found a strange substance on the victims' skin.
Anyways, when I entered Jitters, it was around four in the afternoon. Most of the sun was covered by a few clouds, but every once in a while it would peak out; rays of light escaping the grasp of the clouds.
I sat down across from Iris, anxiety rising in me and a nervous smile crosses my face. "Hi." I fidget in my seat. "What did you need to talk about?"
"Megan, I'm sorry for how I acted at the hospital. And after that. It wasn't very mature." She gave me an apologetic smile. "I overreacted."
"It's okay. And I'm sorry for not telling you about my dad's threat sooner." I pause. "I didn't know how to bring it up, since all our lives we thought he liked you."
"Like I said, I overreacted. Sorry about that." We give each other a bear hug. "I still have a few minutes before my break's over. You wanna play a game?" She brings out her phone after we pulled away, smirking devilishly.
I heard the sound effects and immediately grinned and became excited. "Is that even a question? Of course!" I scoot closer to Iris, who started playing Five Nights At Freddy's 2.
Iris laughed at my excitement. "Just don't scream like you always do."
"We both know I can't promise that."
Five Nights At Freddy's is one of the best games I ever played, even though it sometimes scares the crap out of me. You work as a security guard at a place like Chuckie Cheese's, and the animatronics come to life at night. You have to survive from 12-6 am or they'll kill you. There's a third game coming out Feb. 5, and I'm all pumped up for it!
We were about three minutes in, game time was 2 am. Foxy (fox animatronic) was in the hallway, and Bonnie (bunny animatronic) was most likely in the vents; we could hear the sound effects of metal banging. Iris went to the game's camera, started to wind up the music box, but Old Chica (chicken animatronic) pushed the monitor down and attacked. Iris and I yelped, and I quickly pushed the mask button. By the time Old Chica left, the music box ran out. We immediately heard the "pop goes the weasel" song, indicating that the Puppet was going to come after us. The Puppet is probably the freakiest character, besides Golden Freddy.
"Oh my gosh, wind it up! Wind the music box up!" We shouted at each other as both of us started panicking. Of course, winding the box back up wouldn't help us, but what else could we do? I could feel people staring at us, but I ignored it.
The Puppet gave us a jump scare a few seconds later, making Iris gasp and freeze in fear. I screamed and jumped a foot out of my seat. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me. I felt my cheeks burn red with embarrassment. "Sorry!"
Everyone presumed their activities, a few of them rolling their eyes. That was super embarrassing.
"Nice job not screaming." Iris smirked in amusement.
"Hey! You know I can't just shut up when I play the game!" I turn back to Iris.
"Excuses, excuses." She grinned happily. "Okay I have to get back to work. See you later?"
