Megan's POV

To Barry<3:

I'm going 2 the park after work with a friend.

From Barry<3:

With who? Which friend?

To Barry<3:

...Mason.

From Barry<3:

WHO'S MASON?!?!?!

To Barry<3:

Relax he's just someone I met at Jitters.

From Barry<3:

Do you not remember what happened last time you hung out with a "friend" you just met?!

To Barry<3:

If you're so worried, then feel free to come with me!

From Barry<3:

I will!

I mentally sigh. Does he have to be so overprotective? Sometimes it gets on my nerves.

It's four o'clock and I'm extremely bored. There's hardly any customers now, so I've been texting Barry for the past hour.

I stare blankly at the TV, not paying any attention to what was on. I think it was some comedy show.

"Megan." A man's voice startles me.

"Hm?" I turn towards the voice and find Barry standing behind me. How did he even get in without me noticing?! How long was he standing there?

"Who's Mason?"

"I already told you, he's just someone I met here."

"Why aren't you taking any caution about this guy? How do you know he's not some creep like Joseph?" I can hear the irritation in Barry's voice.

"Uh, I'm pretty sure the same thing isn't going to happen twice, Barry. What're the chances of him being involved with E.D? There's no way they could've tracked me down yet." I whisper harshly.

"So you already forgot about your near-death experiences?" He folds his arms as he waits for my answer.

I avoid eye contact and keep my gaze on the floor. "No," I mutter. He cornered me.

"Then why are you letting your guard down?"

I bite my lower lip hard enough to draw blood and stay silent. How am I supposed to answer if I don't know the answer myself?

"Do you like him?" Barry blurts out the question.

"What?" My eyes widen and my head snaps up to face him. "No! No, no, no! I don't like him that way!" Barry rolls his eyes.
*********
"What does this 'Mason' guy even look like?" Barry asks his hundredth question.

I glance around the park and ignore Barry's question. "He's right there," I point to Mason, who's currently talking to a guy near a bench.

"That's him?" Barry's disapproving voice rings through my ears. "Megan, are you sure about this guy?"

I nod and we begin to walk over to Mason. "Hey Mason!" I greet him cheerfully, despite the displeasure on Barry's face. It was obvious he was not okay with Mason's appearance.

"'Sup," Mason nods to us in acknowledgment. "I'm Mason," he sticks his hand out for Barry to shake.

"Barry," my fiancé says while wearing a fake smile. "Her fiancé."
