Megan's POV
After this morning's events, I enter Jitters for work. The tv's in the cafe were showing the now-destroyed bank that Barry and I were in.
'Due to this morning's robbery, officials tell us the bank will have to be reconstructed completely. Police found the inside of the bank destroyed by water damage of an unknown source and an abyss leading from the door to the middle of the main entrance. There were also large pieces of the wall cluttered on the floor of the scene.
'The criminals were caught outside of the bank, but Alice Tonya escaped. If anyone sees her, please call the police.' a picture of the suspect showed up on the screen. The woman had dark hair with jade-colored eyes and a light tan.
Pulling my eyes away from the tv, I turn to see Iris watching me. I ignored the queasy feeling in my stomach and get back to work.
"Can we please talk about this?" She walks up to me awhile later after serving customers.
I don't make eye contact with Iris and mumble, "There's nothing to talk about."
"We both know that's not true."
"Well then, Iris, what do you want to talk about? How attractive you find my fiancé?" I snap and glare at her. A few people turn their heads toward me.
Iris gets startled by my outburst and is quiet for a few moments. Her hand, which was resting on the counter, slowly curled into a fist. I roll my eyes at her silence and walk away.
"How can I help you today?" I walk up to a table and ask the lady sitting there.
"I'd like a small cup of coffee, please," she answers. I write down the order and glance back at her.
"Will that be all?"
"Yes, thank you." The woman wore large sunglasses and had straight, bright blonde hair. To be honest, it looked like a wig.
"Alright. It'll be ready in a minute or so." She seems nice. I wonder why she'd wear a wig?
I get her coffee ready and hand it to her. "Thank you, miss."
"No problem." I flash a quick smile.
The woman glances down at my left hand. "Did your fiancé give you that beautiful ring?" She takes a sip of her coffee.
I look down, a little flustered at what I yelled at Iris earlier. "Um, yeah. He did." I smile bashfully.
"Congratulations."
"Thanks."
"I'm Allison, by the way." The woman extends her hand.
"Megan." I hesitantly shake Allison's hand. No customer introduces themselves to us, so I'm taken aback.
"Megan!" Someone calls from behind me.
"Coming!" I look back at the young woman in front of me. "Gotta go." She nods with a smile.
I walk to the back cafe lost in my thoughts. Something about that lady's smile made me uneasy.
When I get to the back of the cafe I'm greeted by Iris. "I told you, I don't want to talk." I back up but end up running into someone. "Sor-" I look up and discover I ran into Barry.
"You're not leaving here until you two work this out." He interrupts me.
I try to run around him, but he easily blocks my path. I cross my arms. "Come on!" I whine. When he doesn't move, I attempt to push past him. Barry doesn't even budge. Instead he turns me around so I'd face Iris. "Seriously? You're really doing this?" I look over my shoulder at Barry.
"Yes. Now talk." He backs up and walks out of the room, leaving me and Iris alone. I'll bet you he was even standing by the entrance to make sure I wouldn't make a break for it.
I speak after a few minutes of complete silence. "I can't believe you called him over here to get me to talk."
Iris shrugs. "How else was I supposed to get you to talk?"
"You could've given me time to think things through." I grumble.
"Knowing you, you wouldn't talk to me for months if I let you think things through."
I have no choice but to nod in agreement. She had a point; I'm more than capable of hold grudges for a long time. I sigh, "So...you weren't happy about our engagement because you liked him?" I raise my eyebrows.
"I'm happy about you two, but I have mixed emotions."
"I wonder what Eddie would say if he found out about this?" I think out loud.
"Don't you dare tell him."
"I never said I was going to." I pause for a minute. "So, good talk. Bye." I quickly walk towards the exit. Before I left, I spoke one last time in a slightly harsh tone. "Move on, Iris. You have Eddie."
*****
~4:35 p.m.~After lunchtime's talk with Iris, I've been in a grumpy mood. Everything's been ticking me off. So yeah, don't tick me off if you don't want to fall into an abyss. Or drown. Either way, don't mess with me.
I slam into a nearby wall when a criminal shoves me. Barry was somewhere else at the moment, so I was on my own; which I don't mind, considering I am highly dangerous right now.
I turn to find the man pull out and aim a pistol at me. He shoots, but I raise a solid ice wall before me, causing the bullets to lodge into the ice.
I love being able to control solid water. Yes I know I can just call it ice, but some people might consider ice a completely different ability. Ice and water are obviously the same things, just in different forms. Both are deadly.
Anyways, I then send the ice wall flying towards him. He was barely able to dodge it, causing the chunk of ice to crash into the wall behind him.
Lightbulb. Why didn't I think of this before?
I gather the shattered ice and reconstruct them into needle-sharp spikes. Then I throw them at the criminal, pinning him against the wall. That'll hold him until the police get here.
I look over to find Flash standing at the entrance of the alley. "Aww, I wanted to help you take him down." He whines.
"Too late. Sorry," I laugh. Barry picks me up and dashes away from the alley, letting the man be taken into custody by the arriving police.
Once we get home from Star Labs a few hours later, I open up my laptop. I'm immediately drawn to Iris' blog. What? Just because I'm mad at her doesn't mean I don't want to look at the new posts about meta humans.
I click the newest post, which showed a picture of Riptide and Flash in the alleyway. Where on earth did she get a picture?
I continue to read through the blog, discovering that she took the picture on her phone. Is she stalking us or something? Geez... She's going to get herself killed if she continues. Maybe it's time I take Barry's approach and pay Iris a little visit.
