"SEE? ITS NOT as bad as you thought it would be~" You giggled, fingers entangled with his dark hair. Xiao hissed at you, grumbling about he should've never agreed to this arrangement. The silky white petals of qingxin flowers and the purple buds of violetgrass weaved throughout his teal hair. "There!" You pulled back, admiring your handiwork. The two of you sat at the edge of floating platform at Qingyun Peak beside the statue of the Lord of Geo.
Xiao turned around, his gloved hand running through the threads of hair to feel the petals and buds embedded throughout the strands. "Why do you find such childish diversions entertaining?"
You pouted, folding your arms across your chest with a huff. "It's not forbidden to have fun every once and a while, you Vigilant Yaksha." He shot you a glare but you shrugged it off. "Do not call me by that name." He scolded, standing up from his seated position. The wind currents of Qingyun Peak gently brushed by, lifting his hair into the air.
"Don't move around too much, you'll mess up my hard work." You grumbled, pouting at the Yaksha before you. His topaz eyes landed on you before sighing. "Why should I care?"
You scoffed, rolling your eyes at him. "Because I worked hard on it and you care about me."
Heat flushed his cheeks, filling the paleness of his skin with a light dusting of red; the tips of his ears turned pink at your words. "I care not for your brazen actions. However, I'd say that your impertinent is commendable."
"Ouch- your words hurt me." You feigned hurt before scooting close to the edge of the platform, glancing out to the mountain peaks and wisps of white clouds that decorated the azure sky. Xiao stood at your side, eyes fixed upon you.
Silence befell the two of you to which Xiao became increasingly more fidgety as he shifted his weight from leg to leg. Despite his words, he did care about your wellbeing. You being of one the only people who dared speak to him with such familiarity was rather odd for a human yet much needed. Having lived under the skies of Teyvat in isolation for two thousand years, he had grown rather cynical and melancholy to the world around. It felt refreshing to have a human of all beings, speak with the Conqueror of Demons in said forwardness. In spite of appearance, he wished to remain by your side for as long as possible.
"Are you upset at me?" He asked quietly, heart thrumming in his chest as he awaited your response. You shook your head, turning to face him with a smile. "Aw~ Did you think I was? I could never be mad at you, Xiao."
The tinge of pink surfaced on his face as he sighed, raising his hand to touch the florals in his hair. His eye glanced to his side, touching the silk petals of the qingxin flowers that was threaded throughout his teal strands. "I was uncertain," he admitted, hanging his head low.
"Hehe, you should show your softer side to me more often. I mean it's just the two of us here." You hummed, swinging your legs back and forth. He scoffed, rolling his eyes. "I have no such side. Purge yourself the belief that I behave differently around you than any other mortal."
"Eh? Then how come you're all red whenever I hug you?" His eyes widened before scowling at you. "N-nonsense!"
"Maybe I should get a mirror or something," you sighed before scooting from the edge to stand up. You brushed your hands along the creases of your shirt, dusting off any debris before a gust whipped past you. "Woah- AH!" A particularly strong wind caught you while unbalanced and swept you over the edge of the platform. "(y/n)!" Xiao sprinted towards you, attempting to snatch your wrist but failed to.
Wind currents whipped past your body as you plummeted towards immediate doom below. Your eyes squeezed shut as you prepared for the worst and yet, it never came.
"Idiot, you could've died!" Xiao scolded as he held you to him, arms scooping you close. He leapt from pillar to pillar of the Huaguang Stone Forest with you held bridal style. You giggled quietly, bringing your hand close to your chest. "But my Prince Charming came to save me~"
"Say something dumb again and I'll drop you."
GOOD ENDING.
