SEVEN MONTHS SINCE the attempt on your life, you've grown adjusted to life in Liyue. Though homesick from occasion to occasion, you found yourself often distracted enough to not think of home constantly. Although, you have been receiving letters from your two eldest siblings in the last month to wish you a happy marriage. It wasn't much but it was nice to have received something from your homeland.
In those seven months, you've also grown exponentially closer to Xiao after the incident many moons ago. As promised, he gave you everything you desired— small demonstrations of affection (although hesitant at times), gifts from afar, whatever it is that you wanted and within his power to bestow it to you. One of which was to move into his grand master bedroom where the two of you now shared a bed.
Now, after all the time shared with one another, you've found yourself a week before the arranged wedding— frantically selecting a wedding regalia suitable for a royal union such as this.
"What about this, Your Highness?" One of your maids held up a gorgeously designed two-piece suit accented with black and gold organza, trimmed with linings and jewels.
"Too..." You paused, looking at the suit with a frown. "Flashy... I want something more traditional."
"Then what about these, Your Highness?" Your other maid gestured to a set of newly purchased changshan and qipaos that were dyed in various tones and shades of the rainbow.
"Hmm..." Your eyes scanned over the silks, still frowning. "Still not... sophisticated enough. It looks too plain for a wedding."
Your maids glanced at one another, shaking their heads. "Then... shall we visit the shopping district of Liyue, Your Highness? I'm sure we can find something that will satisfy you there..."
You sighed, shaking your head. "But then it doesn't feel as authentic, does it? If only I had brought something suitable from home—"
"Is something wrong?"
You looked up, frown up turning into a smile upon seeing your fiancé at the entrance of your shared bedroom. "Xiao!" You delighted him with a wide grin, immediately rushing to his side to embrace him.
He opened his arms to you, pulling you close to ease you of the tension straining your body. "You're tense, love. What is the matter?"
You heaved a heavy sigh, shaking your head as you took a few steps back to steady yourself. "I find choosing a proper wedding attire rather troublesome. Nothing I've looked at seems suitable for our occasion and I fear that I may look disingenuous if I went out to purchase a new regalia."
