A late night call with Becca the night prior made everything seem to fit. Piper had told herself that she wouldn't get any of her friends involved with the decision, but Becca had become such an important person in her life that she felt like she needed to.
'The real question isn't what would benefit you more, it is what you would be more afraid to lose'
It seemed like everything seemed to click into place. It sounded stupid to her when she thinks about it again, but it made so much sense.
She could get so many job offers in her future. But her family and friends were more important to her. They were her lifeline, the things giving her the most motivation for her to get up in the morning. Quickly phoning her manager, she told that she wouldn't be taking the role.
Her manager wasn't impressed. Trying to reason by saying 'It's a once in a lifetime opportunity'. Piper had heard that enough. Every single thing she worked on was a once in a lifetime, but she hadn't felt truly complete.
Being with the people she loved was the thing that was the thing which was going to make her be complete. It would make everything be right. She didn't need to leave as she has everything she needed here.
Piper decided that the best idea was to tell Sapnap in person. The message would be sent across a lot more prominently and that she could show raw emotion. It would be less meaningful if Piper just causally dropped it in a conversation as if it was nothing, it was a thing that had been making both of them overly nervous. She had asked that he came round to her house earlier that day, no description given. Sapnap was slightly nervous, occasionally having to prep himself by telling himself his own little pep talks.
Walking up to her door, he started to get a little more fidgety. He didn't like the feeling of uncertainty that he had been experiencing. At in his eyes it was dramatic, but he didn't want to lose her. And even if it was only Canada, he didn't want it to be long distance.
Knocking on the door, the rather loud noise that was admitted was a little to loud, seeing as he was starting to get a headache. The stress was starting to get to him, and when he saw Piper slowly open the door, he tried acting like nothing was bothering him.
Making their way to sit on the couch together, there was clearly tension. Well, the tension was so prominent that it was hard for either of them to process a word.
'So, I replied about the job' Piper awkwardly said, she didn't know why she was being so awkward even though she said no about it.
Sapnap stared into her eyes and noticed that they weren't at all sad, there was a glimmer of joy in them. He was doubting that she would've said no to the job, but the look in her eyes was something that gave him hope.
'And I turned it down. It would be worse for me to lose you and my family than lose my job' she looked into his eyes, and the pure happiness that overcame his was going to be one of the best memories of her life. He was the sweetest, kindest and most perfect person for her.
He moved towards her, lifting her up and just kissing her, the kiss filled with a love they could never replace.
They didn't need to say more.
They didn't need to be public yet.
They didn't need to say I love you.
Because they had each other, and maybe Piper coming homeward bound was something that she should never regret.
