...

"Madison!" I hear my mom yelling from down stairs. "Get up! We have to leave in an hour!"

I sit up and push the hair out of my face while I look at the time on my phone, 3am. I have to leave for the airport at 4 if I want to make my plane on time.

My eyes are heavy and my body is wobbly. I barely got any sleep last night because I was so anxious about leaving the country. It was a really hard decision for me. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be away from my family all summer, but I wanted to do this, I've wanted to travel outside of the U.S. for as long as I could remember. I know that I'll be homesick, but I'll get over it. It's only 3 months that I'll be gone. Plus I need this time for myself before I go off to college.

Still half asleep, I wash my face, brush my teeth, curl my hair, put my make up on, and get dressed. I'm wearing a pair of shorts with a lose white tank top. I quickly pack a personal bag to keep with me on the plane. I put in some headphones, a light jacket, a magazine and book, a small snack, sunglasses, my passport, and my wallet. I pull on a pair of sandals and head down the stairs to help my mom load my suitcases into the car.

"You look beautiful sweetie" my mother smiles at me as I walk into the kitchen.

"It's not really much but thanks" I smile back. "I'll go put my bags in the car." I say as I grab a banana and a large suitcase to haul it outside. I have one suitcase filled with clothes and then a carry on with shoes, accessories, makeup, and toiletries. My mom said that I over packed but I disagree. I'm a very indecisive person and if I'm going to be gone for 3 months I need as many options that I can get!

I finish putting my bags in the back of the car and my mom walks outside and gets into the drivers seat. I hop into the passenger seat and buckle up as my mom drives away from the house.

...

"Have so much fun, remember to stay in touch and call everyday if you can. Do you have your camera? What about extra memory cards?" My mom says pulling away from about her tenth hug.

"Mom I'm fine, I triple checked that I had everything" I assure her.

"Okay, and you have your money? You know how to exchange it for euros right?"

"Yes! I know I haven't forgotten." I say a little annoyed. I understand she's worried but she went over things like this everyday for the past 2 months.

"Okay...I'm just making sure. Well I guess I'll let you go now." She says and I see a tear fall from her eye.

"Mom don't cry! I'll only be gone for 3 months. And before you know it, I'll be home." I say hugging my sobbing mother again.

"I know I know. I love you darling. Have fun and please stay safe." She says calming down.

"I know I will. Love you too." I say and finally she lets go and gets back into the car and drives off.

I still have an hour and a half before my plane boards so I decide to go get a little breakfast at the food court after I go through security and check my bags.

When I'm sitting down in my terminal I hear a voice come over the speakers and say, "We are now boarding flight A21, passengers may now board the plane to Dublin."

I get up and grab my carry on and my purse and give the lady my ticket.
