Draco
I was sitting under a tree looking out on the lake, alone, as per usual, reading my new book when I saw Luna walking by. She was wandering in her usual dreamy fashion, although I was one of few who knew that it was mostly fake. I hated that she did this just to keep everyone safe, like she was silly or dumb, acted like a joke when she could probably kill you without breaking a sweat.
She still drifted off sometimes, and I always wondered what she was thinking about. Whatever it was must have been good as she always smiled.
As she passed my tree, she looked around as if checking for anyone who might see them. But she found no one. It was a cloudy, cold, and terrible day to be outside but it was the only place that guaranteed me some peace and quiet.
She sat down on my right and looked over at me with a small smile. That smile, not the fake one she puts on around others, makes my heart speed up and take lift off. It makes my toes tingle and makes me feel wanted.
Unlike most of my life which was an act spent with idiots who couldn't count to ten. But Luna is one of the smartest, best, funniest, kindest, beautiful, amazing, incredible, most awesomest people I know...
Ok, so I guess I may have a small crush. I'm not oblivious, and I'm not narcissistic. I know she doesn't like me back because it's been years and I haven't known her to have a crush on anyone.
One time she came back from camp (yes I know about camp) and told me all about this guy, Percy Jackson. She told me all about the 7, and the heroes who saved the world (more than once).
But so many people she talked about went through so much, three of them going through actual hell, which made me extremely guilty about all the times I've cursed the world for being unfair. Silently blamed people unjustly for my life. My sucky, fake, double life. With a sprinkle of murdery monsters in the morning to add to the mix. I felt guilty for feeling self-pity (even though it wasn't much) when people like them went through so much more and still stood strong for others.
Luna snapped her fingers in my face, getting my attention again. My ADHD mind must have wandered off. I was usually pretty good at keeping it under control, but being around Luna made it hard to concentrate sometimes.
"Sorry, lost in thought. What's up?" I asked, smiling warmly at Luna, who I just realized had a worried expression on behind her usual, confident one.
"Well, you know how I've talked about Annabeth?" I nodded.
"Yeah, I still haven't met her by the way. She's actually here. At Hogwarts. And I haven't even spoken to her once!" I said playfully glaring at Luna.
"I know, I know. Well, turns out the other 'exchange students' are also all demigods. And she wants us to meet them."
A smile grew on my face, "Finally. When and where?" I ask.
"Half an hour. Come on Speedy," she said, getting up. I grimaced slightly at her nickname for me, given because my granddad is the god of speed.
I followed her up to the castle, weaving through tunnels and hallways until we came to an empty hallway. I recognized one of the blank walls as the secret door to the Room of Requirement. I knew it well as I had used it often to spar with Luna in private.
She walked up to the door, walking past it three times to reveal a tall wooden door, which seemed to melt away from the wall.
She opened it and we walked into a common room-looking place, with a warm fire and many fluffy armchairs. All of the exchange students were already seated by the fire. They all turned their heads towards us as I closed the door behind us.
