Each and every broken piece of your heart were like stitches in the fabric of your black velvet dress. Raggid and unlevel. Your partner had broken your heart two years ago and you became unscociable, pushing everyone away. All but your bestfriend, Michelle (a/n my bell hehe). She had tried everything to get you out of your dorm and with much thought you decided this time you would take up her offer. Michelle said there was celebration in order for your 'freedom' and for the first time in two years you agreed.

You slipped on your black heels just as Michelle walked through the door. She stopped in her tracks, jaw almost hitting the floor. This wasn't your usual style of jumpers and leggings, so Michelle was shocked to see you acctually wearing what she had chose for you.

"Close your mouth, you'll catch flies" you said dryly, rolling your eyes. You didnt want to go out tonight, your mood still low even if it was two years later. You thought - at this point - that you would never get over your ex; forever heart broken.

"If you keep sulking around your never going to get over them and find someone new" Michelle spoke.

She was right. You needed to get over your ex. That's when you said "fuck it, I'm going to find someone else "

Sitting at the table with a glass of red wine in your hand, your swirled the liquid around as yet another boring band played. You had no luck with finding someone else and you patience was wearing thin. "I think I'm going to leave, Michelle" you shouted over the music and many voices although she couldn't hear you as she was practically addressing someone with her eyes.

"Michelle!" You called again, beconing her attention. "Hmm" she replied, eyes not daring to tear away from the spot she was stuck staring at.

"I'm leaving" you said, picking up your bag and leather jacket. "Uh-huh. I probably wont be home tonight anyways so dont worry about me" she smirked.

So you stood up heading towards the door as the band finished and a new one entered the stage.

"Hello darlings, how are we?" you heard a familiar voice say. You turned to see your crush Freddie prancing across the stage with the most beautiful smile plastered upon his face. The past year you had seen Freddie in your classes and although you couldn't get over the heartbreak, Freddie had found a way into your heart; feelings growing day by day.

You two had never spoken but you always smiled at each other. He also studied design but you had no idea he could sing. And so you sat back down and watched the whole performance, the first band you had acctually found interest in that night.

The needle sunk into the yellow fabric, weaving it's way through to sew the bodice and the skirt of the sunflower dress together. It was a flowy dress that sat at your knees with spaghetti straps and sunflowers. You brought the thread to the end, tieing a knot so it wouldn't come undone when you felt a tap on your shoulder.

You turned around to see Freddie smiling sweetly at you. "Y/N, right?" he asked but of course he knew who you were. He spent most of his time staring at you instead of focusing on his work. Admiring the way the sunbeam hit your face, the way your tounge stuck out the slightest bit when concentrating, the way your nose would scrunch up when shaking your head in disagreement.

He felt for you the same as you did for him, he just never admitted it. "Yeah. Freddie, right?" you replied, smiling.

"The one and only darling" he chuckled. "Can I sit?" asked Freddie, motioning towards the chair beside you.

"Yeah sure " and with that you became good friends, hanging out in each lesson, sometimes even during lunch breaks and after college.

3 months later

"You were brilliant, Freddie! As always!" you squealed, jumping into Freddie's arms. Instinctively he caught you, wrapping his arms around your waist and spinning you around.

"God, get a room" you heard Roger say from behind you, a blush spreading across your face. You looked up at Freddie and smiled, noticing a pink tint colouring his cheekbones.

Was Freddie blushing?

Twenty minutes later and Freddie had been ignoring you since Roger's comment was made, advoiding you for what he believed was your own good. You had tried to talk to him but each time you did he gave you the cold shoulder; walking the other way. So you snuck up on him from behind, scaring him slightly though you knew this was the only way you would get him to talk to you.

"Hello again" you smiled, trying to stay positive.

However, when he smiled back- it didnt quite meet his eyes.

"Freddie, what's wrong? You've been ignoring me all night and you wont even tell me why! what did i do wrong? " you aksed, the string of patience finally being snipped in half.

"I- it's not your fault. You didnt do anything wrong"

"Huh, sure" you said turning to walk off and back to your dorm

"I- Y/N wait! can we talk?"

"Oh, so now you wanna talk? What a shame because I dont " you rolled you eyes, continuing to walk of when Freddie caught you hand.

With fingers intertwined, Freddie led you to the dressing room backstage and gently closed the door behind him.

"Freddie, what the hell?! I wanna go, you can't just drag me backstage!" you yelled, anger dripping through your voice with each word.

"I'm sorry, okay?" he said quietly, looking down as if the ground had suddenly become the most fascinating thing in the world.

"Why? Why did you ignore me?" you asked, voice toning down a notch.

"I- please dont freak out when I tell you this but..."

"But what, Freddie?"

"I like you so, so much" he smiled awkwardly.

"What?" You were in shock, denial even.

"I really like you Y/N. I have for a while now I just didnt think you could ever feel the same way"

"Freddie stop" This was your moment, the moment that could change things between you and the lead singer.

"You could never love me the way I love you but I'm glad that you atleast feel the same way" you smiled goofily. "I like you too, Freddie"

Just like that it went from your heart broken and raggid like the stitches in your velvet dress to your kisses as soft as rain against your skin.
