Here's a Shikamaru Gamer story that never got finished.

He's my favorite character.

-----

"I... are you sure you're okay?" My friend, Choji Akimichi, asked.

"C'mon Choji, you know I don't have nearly enough energy to make up a lie this elaborate." I sighed, meeting my friend's slightly worried gaze.

"I guess that's true. In that case, what's my level and title?" Choji questioned, causing me to let out a sigh before checking it, a hand resting on my neck as I did.

[Choji Akimichi, The Kind Gourmand] (Lv 17)

"You're 'The Kind Gourmand' and level 17 according to this.... thing." I told Choji, looking around as he turned his head in thought.

This was our little spot, the place we went to whenever we needed to talk one-on-one. It was one of the first places we ever just relaxed with one another, looking up at the clouds and eating Choji's snacks.

"Gourmand? Isn't that a person who enjoys eating? I guess it's not wrong." Choji noted, but I could only shrug in response.

"I don't know what's with this thing. It chose an RPG out of all things, so I can't help but be annoyed. If it was a fighting game I may have a higher chance." I sighed before shaking my head, standing up.

"This is such a drag. Status." I recited, bringing up a blue window that identical to the ones I'd seen in game's option menus.

[Name: Shikamaru Nara]
[Level: 2]

[Job: The Gamer]
[Title: None]

[HP: 200/200]
[MP: 50/50]
[STR: 10]
[VIT: 10]
[DEX: 10]
[INT: 10]
[WIS: 10]
[LUC: 10]

[Points: 5]
[Money: 1,000 Ryō]

"So, you can't see this?" I asked Choji, pointing towards the status screen, causing him to shake his head from side to side.

"All I'm seeing in air. It doesn't look like there's anything there for me. But there's supposed to be a status screen there, right?" My brown-haired friend asked, gaining a silent nod from me.

"Odd. I guess it's good we're just doing some chores for the time being. I'm gonna go have some barbecue pork, do you wanna join me?" Choji offered, his face lighting up as he thought about his seemingly favorite go to meal.

"Sorry, but I'm gonna pass. I'm gonna try to figure out what's up with this for the time being." I told Choji, who nodded and left me on my own to think about this weird ability.

-----

Out of all the things I figured out, the one that stuck out the most was that I had absolutely no idea what this thing—that I'd been calling my ability—was.

It certainly wasn't a jutsu of some sort, and unless I'd been a genjutsu since I woke up—which I'd highly doubted.

"So my life has truly become like a video game." I sighed, rubbing my hands on my eyes.

"Even things like this are possible with this ability." I reached into what would've looked like the air to a normal person, and pulled out a kunai from my inventory.

"I won't do anything with my points just yet, because I don't really know what I could do with then anyways. Strength, Vitality, and Dexterity all seem very self explanatory. However, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Luck definitely aren't." I mused, tucking my hands in my pockets in thought.

"Observe." I used a "skill" I'd learned on the kunai.

[Basic Kunai]
[Rank: E]
One of the most common ninja tools used by shinobi. While they're originally meant to be used for thrusting and stabbing, they can be used as throwing tools as well.

"It's not inaccurate. I guess I should do some training to see if everything's working properly." I sighed, putting the ninja tool back into my inventory.
