"Oh, you fill my head with pieces
Of a song, I can't get out
Can I be close to you?
And the trees are filled with memories
Of the feelings never told?
Oh, the whole world it is sleeping,
But my world is you
Can I be close to you?"

Harry

Pulling up to the club and seeing the neon Big Top sign unlit is a strange feeling for me. It's a feeling that I didn't know would be so impactful, yet there's nothing I can do but wait until I find the shooter and then reopen the club. I want to keep Nova safe and I also want to keep bringing money in to help my mum but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with Mark threatening me with never seeing my mum again.

I need to put a stop to this for Nova's and my mum's sake.

I want Nova to meet my mum one day. I think mum would like her a lot. After all, they're both the most selfless people I've ever met. Nova's dedication to her friends and making sure everyone is comfortable is what reminds me most of my mum. They both just have this warming presence about them that makes you want to lay down your walls in hopes they'll soothe the pain.

They're like the sunlight that warms your chilled skin on a somewhat breezy day, when it's chilly enough to have a jacket on but the moment you step out into the sunlight it embraces you and allows you to shed that extra layer.

Nova's the sun; she's that glimmer of hope in the darkness.

Nova waits for me to kill the engine before turning to face me, her hardened, yet soft stare melting my insides as I stare up at the brick building. I meet her gaze and give her a reassuring smile just as her hand reaches across the center console to give my hand a squeeze.

With the slam of the driver and passenger side door, we both step onto the sidewalk, letting the club loom over us in the midnight sky. The streets feel darker without the red sign lighting the way, leading all of its victims into the belly of the building.

"Feels weird to see the club not open," Nova finally says, noticing my almost saddened stare. "Especially on a Friday night. Usually the whole block would be filled with people waiting in line to go in," she lets out a short laugh, almost sounding amused and remorseful at the same time. I nod at her statement and walk towards her, picking her hand up in mine.

"I didn't bring you back to the club so we could dwell on the circumstances of the club being shut down. I brought you here because there's something I need to show you that I should have a long time ago," I say, watching as Nova's eyebrows pull together in a bit of curiosity. "Will you let me show you?" I ask, keeping her soft hand against my chest.

She nods and grasps my hand in hers, her eyes trailing down to my chest for a mere second. "I'd like that," she whispers, a smile playing on her pink lips as I feel my heart beat so fast that it feels like it's about to pop out of my chest and into Nova's hand.
