Can the universe be any more cruel to me right now?

"Hey, you okay over there?" a voice that is comparable to warm honey on a sunny day with a tinge of huskiness came out from those gorgeous lips. Oh my! Thinking about those lips already?  Get a grip Sera! "'Cause you've been rooted to that very spot since five minutes ago," Ryder said with a playful tone but there was concern showing in his eyes.

I cleared my throat. "Umm.. Yeah. Just walked straight into your locker. No big deal right?" I chuckled nervously.

"Well, I would say yeah but your face says otherwise," Ryder said bemused.

"Huh? Is there something on my face? Oh God," I panicked whilst feeling around my face.

Ryder was holding back a laugh. "I'm just pulling your leg. There's nothing wrong with your face. Sorry," he said with a cheeky smile.

My face heated up instantly. Urgh. This is so embarrassing.

"Sorry," Ryder reiterated. "I'll stop being a jerk. Can we start over again? Hi, I'm Ryder." He has a very charming smile.

I stood there, staring at his outstretched hand in shock but shook it nonetheless, "Hello, I'm Seraphina but you can just call me Sera. All my friends do."

"Seraphina," He said, testing the way my name sounds. The way my name rolled off his tongue sent tingles down my body. "Can I call you Seraphina instead? I think that it's a very beautiful name."

"Uhh... Sure, if you'd like," I replied dumbly.

"Great! See you around then?" he said as the bell went off.

"Yeah, sure thing," I replied with a genuine smile this time.

"Ladies first," he said with a flourish and walked off.

I chuckled. I have Mathematics for the first period. Mathematics and I just don't click. It's like a foreign subject to me. Especially Trigonometry, just two words - help me.

"So, how'd it go?" asked Amaryllis.

I knew what she was referring to. "Excluding my slow thought processing function, it was alright," I replied dazedly.

"Earth to Sera. I repeat, Earth to Sera. Return from Planet Ryder." I gave her an incredulous look but played along, "Beep beep beep. Error: Malfunction. Beeeep..." I faked a shot to my heart.

I wonder why we're best friends. Probably because we're both crazy in our own way. That's why I love Amaryllis. She's like a sister to me. We can be weird with each other, not caring what others say. And she listens to my rants and stuff without judging me whatsoever and vice versa.

"Not again," Ms Claudette muttered loud enough for the whole class to hear. "Girls, can I have just one minute without your weird antics?"

Ms Claudette is twenty-five with a model-like figure. She has wavy blonde hair which rests just above her tail bone. She could easily pass of as a model.

Amaryllis and I gave her a mock salute. One thing about Ms Claudette is that she doesn't really mind our behaviour as she likes to joke around and can be a tad bit dramatic. She's our favourite teacher, might I add.

After lessons, we head to the gazebo for lunch.

As I was taking out my bento box, Amaryllis patted my arm or rather, shoved me to the point where I almost lost my grip on my lunch.

"What," I hissed at her.

"Oops, sorry," she replied sheepishly. "It's just that your lover boy is heading towards our direction. It could just be my eyes playing tricks on me though."

My eyes almost bulged out of it's sockets. "OMG. What am I supposed to now? And he's not my lover boy," I flailed around whilst probably looking like a penguin trying to fly. Wait, they can't.

Amaryllis gripped both of my shoulders and said, "Look at me Sera. Just breathe." I took a deep breath and felt much better. "There you go."

"Phew. I feel better now. Thanks," I said whilst attempting to smooth my hair.

Here he comes.
