Lessons went by in a blur. Thankfully.
First day of school? Check. Survived the whole ordeal? Double check.
"Hey Amaryllis, I got to grab something from the bookstore. Why don't you go on without me?"
"Hm, yeah. Sure! See you tomorrow," chimed Amaryllis.
The bookstore is owned by an elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Lovegood. They are like the grandparents I never had. Mr Lovegood is tall and lanky but he has the strength of a bull. Mrs Lovegood on the other hand, has powder-white hair which she likes to put up in a bun. She is small in frame and smile lines are evident on her face.
Not to mention, I have been going there ever since I was a child. A bookworm nonetheless.
From the outside, the bookstore looks really small but do not let that fool you. The interior is home to hundreds or even thousands of books!
Never judge a book by its cover right?
"Hello Mr and Mrs Lovegood!" I said whilst waving at the both of them.
"Hello dear. I've reserved the book which you wanted. Hold on a minute while I go get it," Mrs Lovegood said.
I sat on one of the sofa seats situated beside the window. My favourite spot to be exact.
My thoughts went back to Ryder, like always.
Does he ever notice me? Should I talk to him? Oh, I don't know, I'm so shy and-
My train of thoughts were abruptly halted as Mr Lovegood lightly tapped on my shoulder. "A penny for your thoughts?"
I blushed sheepishly. "Oh, you know how I'm always talking about this guy that I have a crush on since freshman year? Well, truth is, I want him to notice me but I'm just not confident enough."
"Ah, young love. I remember during my younger days where I was so shy around dear Adelaide-" I stopped him suddenly and gasped, "No way! You're anything but shy!"
And really, he was the most confident man that I know of.
Mr Lovegood simply chuckled. "You're right but I was a very shy person back then. Adelaide was quite a beauty back in those days, even now. So it was no surprise that men tried to court her."
By now, Mrs Lovegood had joined in our conversation after grabbing my book.
"Oh yes, I remember those days Benjamin," Mrs Lovegood had a glaze in her eyes, as if remembering the past.
The way that Mr Lovegood looked at Mrs Lovegood is full of love.
I wonder if anyone will look at me like that.
I sighed dreamily. My phone began vibrating.
Mum ♥:
"Sera, where are you ? It's getting late."We must have talked until we lost track of time as the sky was filled with red and orange. "Mr and Mrs Lovegood, I really enjoyed talking with you but I have to go. Mum's bugging me about my whereabouts."
"Alright dear, we'll see you soon," said Mrs Lovegood.
I hugged the both of them goodbye and went to the front door.
"I'm on my way home."
Luckily, my house was just down the street.
