John and I didn't speak much the rest of the day, I was too busy cleaning up and appeasing guest so Mimi could rest. She kept telling me I didn't have to and that she could do it but I told her that she deserved at least one days rest. Once everyone left I did the dishes and swept the downstairs of the house. Once again Mimi protested but I insisted.

"She hates feeling like a charity case, ya know." A familiar voice said beside me as I began to collect the garbages to take outside. "Let me get that for you."

I handed him the bag, "Thank you, and I'm well aware of that but I'm just going to keep doing to her what I always do to you."

"And what might that be?" John raised an eyebrow as we stepped outside.

"Act like I can't hear her." I smiled skipping ahead to open the lid to the can.

"Oh harty har har!" He rolled his eyes and chucked the bag in the bin. We both booked it towards the door since it was cold. It was then I noticed the time, half past six to be exact.

"I've got to head home it's getting late." I told him, "I'm going to say bye to Mimi."

I left him by the fireplace and made my way to the kitchen. Mimi was standing by the sink when I told her I was sorry but I had to get home before dark. She hugged me tightly and offered to let me take home some left overs.

"Oh dear, maybe not, wouldn't want them to question you." She whispered to me.

I frowned at her, "Don't think she will, she saw me today." I whispered back causing her to freeze. "Don't worry, I scared her away, but what an ear load I'll receive tonight!"

"Do you need to stay over?" I chuckled but stopped myself when I saw the fear in her eyes.

"Mimi, please, don't worry about me or any of that foolishness, you just worry about you and John now. You know I can take care of myself and her for that matter." I gave her a reassuring arm rub.

She gave me some ziti, some pop, and a good amount of deserts. I thanked her, told her to call if she needed anything, and began to walk for the door. As I pulled my arms through the sleeve of my coat John began to pull his on.

"Winston take that off and stay with your Aunt I'm more than capable of walking home myself." I laughed.

"Well Prudence I decided to take it upon myself to see you just down the block!" He gave me a toothy grin as he bowed.

"Why, how ever will I repay you!" I mused as we linked arms and began walking out the door.

"John, glasses!" Mimi yelled from the kitchen. I laughed at him as he groaned and put them on.

"Very handsome!" I teased as he shoved me to the side a bit. "So what's the catch Johnathan?"

"Think we are out of earshot?"

"We were as soon as you reached for your goggles now spit it out." I smiled up at him.

"Did you see her today?"

My heart skipped, "Who?"

"The redhead hidden behind some graves."

"Maybe, there was quite a bit of people there John you'd have to be more specific." I avoided his eyes, hoping he'd just change the subject.

"She's me mum."

"Oh"

"Oh?"

"Sorry, just, why would she come? I mean, of course out of respect but-"

"No clue, of course grief dragged her out of her den. Could make it to a funeral for someone she isn't even related to, not to see me or anything though"
