My heart raced as I approached the door, I knew it well, it was the door Julia pounded on for most of my childhood. The same fence I would sneak to so I could chat with John. I took in a deep breath and used the door knocker. Not even five seconds later the door flew open and I was met with something I thought I'd never see: Lennon in a suit. He looked me up and down, "Wow, you um," he stuttered, "Ya look pretty gear!" He nervously glanced over his shoulder and that's when I saw her for the first time.
Mimi was thin, tall, and beautiful. She had amazing posture and an elegant way of carrying herself. She crossed her arms, "Well John, is she going to eat dinner in the yard or are you going to let her in?" John threw himself backwards and extended his arm towards the hall. I stifled a laugh and stepped inside. John took my coat and hung it up on its rack, I thanked him and then turned to his aunt. I held my hand out to her, "Thank you so much for inviting me over for dinner tonight. My name is Camille, it's a pleasure to meet you." I smiled at her, trying my hardest not to show my fear. She looked at my hand and then smiled, whether the smile was sinister or not, I couldn't tell. She took my hand and shook it, it may sound odd but I took note on how strong her grip was and yet she shook my hand delicately.
"Oh dear, it is no problem really, you see," she began to walk into the kitchen so I followed, "John usually tags along with bad kids and I would like to avoid that at all costs. You understand that, don't you Camille?" I nodded, not sure what she was insinuating. John poured me a cuppa and I smiled to myself, he was being so proper, it was adorable. "Regardless of all that, a friend of John's is welcomed in this house, you'll even be considered family."
I looked up at her and met her eyes, the sinister possibility was now the only option. She knew exactly who I was and where I had come from, and I had a feeling she didn't like it.

Dinner wasn't all that bad, I have to say that I enjoyed George's stories and the food was amazing. Mimi was very efficient when it came to impressing people, though I don't think that was her tactic for me. John realized something was off about me and his aunt so he continued to ask his uncle questions so he would keep talking. I offered to help Mimi with the dishes, it was only right since she fed me. "I was thinking we could chat while the boys cleaned everything up." She wasn't offering, she was telling me that was what was to happen. "Mims, I would rather you no-" "No, no! Lady time ya rug rat,now help me do the dishes so I don't get yelled at." George groaned.
Mimi walked up the stairwell and into what looked to be a study. She sat in one of the chairs and lit a cigarette, she puffed at the ceiling and watched as the smoke swirled in the air until it disappeared. "What do you want from him?" She asked, her eyes stared into mine, her voice emotionless.
"I don't want anything but to be with him." I stated, emediatly regretting it since that sounded wrong. She rolled her eyes, "So you lust over him? Invite him to your room at night? All for what, to fill the gap your mother lacks to fill?" I stared at her astonished. I couldn't believe the audacity, the nerve that this woman had.
"I don't see John in a romantic matter, nor do I ever intend to. He comes to my room in hopes of an escape, he holds in too many emotions in an attempt to look strong. It is not healthy for him to go on like that, but he can't drop the act for some reason. And there is no gap made by my mother, she abandoned me and I have no remorse for her because of that. Now my mum takes care of me in every way she can so I don't turn out as some homeless greaser, and I couldn't ask for anything better." I kept my voice low but made sure my point came across.
She raised an eyebrow as if she was thinking. After what seemed like forever, she blinked. The butt of her cigerette turned to ash as she pressed it against a tray. She stood and prushed down her skirt, "That was actually quite a good answer." She stated as she walked back down the stairs.
I mentally cried at the fact that I had to walk up the stairs for mere seconds just to walk back down, as if I could walk in these shoes normally. Mimi looked at her watch "It's almost sun set, Camille, I'd hate to cut things short but we can't have you walking home is the dark can we?" John grabbed my coat and I pulled it over myself as I thanked Mimi and George for their hospitality for the evening. John once again opened the door and gave me the same anxious look as when I first arrived. "Camille," I turned towards the black haired woman, "I hope to be seeing you more often." Her lips curved up slightly, she was sincere so I smiled back. "I hope so too." I waved and said my goodnights as I practically skipped home.
Little did I know what was waiting for me there.
