It had been three long days of traveling in the carriage. The bouncing and jolting began to make my body ache, and my stomach flinch with each toss and turn. I remember thinking my whole ride to Montonaria would be full of reminiscing home, and thinking of how much I'd miss everyone; But my mind was so jumbled from the bumpy ride, all I could think about was the relief I'd feel once I could finally stand on firm ground with my own two feet again!
"Just a few more miles to Montonaria. Hang in there your highness!" The man called to me from steering the steeds in the front of the carriage. A rush of excitement overcame my body at his words. I'm almost there! Just a little further Zelda! I encouraged myself, grasping onto the side door for steadiness. My new home was waiting for me!
I began to ponder on the thoughts that began to fill my head. What was Montonaria like in person? Were the people nice? Is the structure of the towns up to par? How about the food. Do they have some new famous gourmet dishes I might like to try? All these questions helped to heighten my spirits, and distract me from my worries. I couldn't wait to finally explore this new place, make new memories, see knew sights, and possibly make new close friends! Friends. All of them I had left behind crashed my happy thoughts. Sad faces, and the sound of their goodbyes filled it's place. I left Link to bear his burdens alone... I thought, as the weight of guilt lowered my head to stare into my lap. I left all of them to..."Look out your window, Princess! We're crossing from Hyrule's border into Montonaria!"
I quickly sprung myself up, as I shoved my head out of the window to get a better view of the surroundings. Sure enough, we followed a path that had Montonarian flags hanging high above, to indicate we were entering into it's borders. I looked in awe as we finally crossed the line. I let out a joyous laughter from the excitement that surged through me. I let the new fresh air enter and embrace my lungs, as the sweet smell of pine filled my nostrils. It was so refreshing! In front of me stood very tall, but skinny, pine trees that lined the dirt road I was riding on. It took me a while to look from the trunk, to the very top of the tree. Hyrule had pine trees, but not ones like these. I had never left Hyrule before. Nor ever had the chance to. I was finally seeing a brand new sight, out of the home I once studied practically every detail about.
After a few moments of gazing, tall pointy buildings came into view far in the distance. Most of the buildings tops were covered with red shingles, as the base of them were cream. It was a lot different from what I was used to in Hyrule, but I was fine with getting used to the style of this new environment. Unlike most people, I gravitate towards change and new things. Otherwise, I feel stuck in a never ending loop. Knowing everything about someplace begins to bore, as I crave to learn something new, and expand my knowledge. Now I was finally able to do so! I felt as though I was a bud of a flower, about ready to blossom.
We finally entered the town as people walking the brick streets waved a friendly hello as we passed. Their attire was rather common styled, and not very complexed like I'd expected. Most of the woman wore bonnets to shield them from the intense sun, as the men wore wet bandannas to keep them cool. How interesting. I was so fascinated by there ways already. I happily waved back to each one, giving them a warm smile. These people already seem so nice and welcoming. I thought with gratitude, as the horse's shoes clip-clopped along the road.
I looked around admiring the town until a huge immaculate building came to view. There were so many intricate designs throughout it, with gorgeous pillars placed at every entrance. The tallest part of it held a very large rusty golden bell. And the roofs were shaped in such a clever way, I was left speechless!
"What a magnificent build! I've never seen anything like it." I exclaimed aloud.
"That right there is the highest respected school in Montonaria. They've bred, and trained so many successful scholars, or geniuses rather, I'd say! I believe you are attending here, aren't you?" He asked, turning around to look at me from the front seat. I froze at the driver's words.
"What- Are you playing some kind of trick on me?" I confronted him in disbelief.
"Check your letter's address. It should much up with this one right here. See for yourself!" He laughed, as he began to slow the horses.
I began to frantically search my pockets, until I pulled out the letter I'd received from the school. There's no way. This can't be correct. I thought, looking to the buildings address, back to the inscription on the envelope. They line up... He was not fooling me. I couldn't even come to believe it was true. I was going to be staying in one of Montonaria's most famous monuments. This was going to be my new home for a time! Not even in my wildest dreams of attending a school nearly matched this reality. I was certain, from this moment forward, things would end well for me here.
