It was an explosion that shook the whole building. Then came the colossal wave of heat. I knew what was behind me without looking back. Fire. We ran as fast as our legs could take us. We got out of the building, and the force of the explosion blasted us forward. We went flying through the air and landed on the pavement, rolling to a stop a couple yards down the road from where we landed. I landed on my back, Cara landed on top of me, on her belly. Waves of heat crashed over us from the explosion. And then it stopped.Cara's hair messily fell out of her bun and over her shoulder, brushing against my chest. Her eyes were wide open with shock. I had no idea what I looked like, but I know one thing; Cara looked gorgeous, even now. And then she did something that surprised me even more. She kissed me.
It was the most amazing feeling in my life. Her lips were warm and soft. They tasted like strawberries. At first I was startled, but then I kissed her back.
I didn't want her to, but she pulled away. Cara stared at me, looking startled. "I'm sorry,"She stammered. "I didn't mean to- I- I just-" I shut her up with another kiss. Tris whistled from somewhere behind us, bringing me back to reality. Cara looked up and gasped. "They're injured!" She pushed off of me and rushed over to help. When I got up and turned around, Four was lying on the ground. He needed help. Now. An acidic taste filled my mouth when I realized there was no time to get him to a hospital.
