I'm not one of those people that hates the sound of my alarm in the mornings. As annoying as it can be, it lets me know that I have a productive day ahead. It helps me stay organised and in control of my life. Something I never got to do in England. With all the complications that occurred, my life was a mess back there and I wanted to do everything I could to make sure I wouldn't have to ever lose control ever again.
That's why I worked my arse off in university to ensure that I could start a fresh new life somewhere else, where no one knows me well enough to judge the person I was and the uncontrollable lifestyle I used to live. Chicago was that place. I can't lie,
I check my phone for five minutes. Sapphire posted the cutest photo of her and Sam from last night. I can't believe my best friend is engaged. Sapphire and I both came to Chicago together.
I wanted at least one person with me that I knew. Being my best friend, Sapphire also knew everything about me, including the whole shit that went down with me and Hunter. That girl had front-row seats to that whole extravaganza. Which explains why she was so pissed off when she saw him the other day.
I don't blame her, because I would be the exact same, if any guy did the same thing that Hunter did to me, to her. I message her congratulations and let her know I will see her 10 am sharp.
After breakfast, Anezka brings my clothes to me and I start getting ready for work. I don't know how this house would run without Anezka. She may be young, but the girl knows how to make sure things are done. Absolutely stunning as well.
While getting ready in my beauty room, Zander walks in. He's wearing a grey suit and his hair is all nice and styled. He walks up to me and plants a kiss on my cheek. "I'm sorry about last night Mack, I shouldn't have flipped like that." he apologises
"It's fine," I replied. I'm still pissed but I don't have the time for an argument right now.
"No, I mean it, I really am sorry. I don't know why I got so worked up. It's just when I heard him call you Mackenzie and you didn't correct him...it made me feel like there was something deeper going on."
I finish straightening my hair and turn towards him. He's looking down and I can tell he genuinely is sorry. I lift his face up by his chin and look into his eyes. "You have nothing to worry about. Hunter is old news, I promise. The only reason I didn't correct him is that I know I won't see him again. There was no point correcting someone if I'm never going to meet them again." I smile while he wraps his hands around my waist. He smiles back at me and I can tell we're both over it. I give him a reassuring kiss on the lips and we both make our way down to the lobby.
The car dropped me off at work first. I gave Zander a goodbye kiss and told him I would meet him for lunch. It still does not seem real that I have my own psychology firm. Seeing my name and logo all around the building. Even on the pens.
I start walking to my office when I see Sapphire walking towards me. She walks alongside me and informs me of today's agenda.
"You have Sheila McConnell coming in for her appointment at 11:30, Anastasia Williams at 1, and the guy from 'K Designs' will be ringing you in 10 minutes to discuss the new office layouts."
