No. No. No. NO. NO! This can't be fucking happening! What the fuck! What the fuck?! My mind curses at me, as my eyes stare down the blue stick showing a plus sign. How the fuck did I end up here? I was smart. I took the pill everyday, at the right time. Not a minute late. How the fuck did I end up here?
Of course this happens, when Hunter and I aren't talking properly. I look at the 10 tests laid next to each other neatly all showing a positive pregnancy test result. I didn't even realise I was pregnant. No symptoms and my period isn;t supposed to start till at least next week, but I decided to just do one, to be sure. Now I'm 100% sure. I quickly grab my phone and hover over Hunter's name. I don't know what to do, but he has a right to know. Just before I hit the call button, Sapphire facetimes me.
I answer her call and see her wearing a lei around her neck. "Hey!" I greet, trying to act like nothing's wrong. "Hey, how are you?" she asked me. You mean apart from the fact that I'm pregnant. "I'm good, you? How's the honeymoon going?"
"It's amazing Mack. Eric's been swimming all day, and I have just been sunbathing." Eric and Sapphire flew away to Hawaii on the night of her wedding and made the very spontaneous decision of getting married. They let us know 10 minutes before the wedding and had us on facetime to watch everything. Hunter and I tried to act like he didn't just walk away from me a couple of hours ago, because we didn't want to ruin their special moment.
Sapphire kept apologising for what Sam did, but I reassured her it was fine. "What's wrong?" she asked me.
"Nothing." I lied.
"Mack Brown, I know when you're lying to me. What's going on?"
I contemplate whether to tell her the truth or not. It's her honeymoon, and I shouldn't stress her for no reason. "It's just work, it feels crazy without you here." I lied again. "Awe, Mack...we'll be home tomorrow, and I promise as soon as I'm back, I'll get them dickheads working properly."
I laugh and give her my goodbyes and go back to staring at the pregnancy tests. "What the fuck am I gonna do?" I whisper to myself.
My phone makes a sound and I see that Hunter has messaged me. I'm sorry about the other night. I think we should talk properly. See me in 10 at your workplace. I love you. x
I replied to his message. I agree and I have some news. See you soon. I love you too. X
♡♡♡♡
I've been waiting in her office for almost half an hour. Where is she? I've rang her so many times but she refuses to answer. I wonder what news she has. I rang her again, straight voicemail. "Come on, Mackenzie." I whisper to myself. She doesn't answer. I leave a voicemail, and then wait again. Seeing as Sapphire's out, I have to ask the temp PA where she is, but she's useless.
"She still hasn't contacted you?" I ask the temp PA. She nods her head 'no'. For fucks sake, Mackenzie! She's stood me up. I sit down in her chair and wait for her to show. My phone rings and I see it's Eric video calling me. I answer and see him lying in the sand. "Hey bro." I greet him.
"Hey, what are you doing?" he asks me
"Nothing, just waiting for Mackenzie. Enjoying your honeymoon?"
"Loving it. Mind you spending most of it inside and naked!" he whispers with a laugh. I hear Sapphire in the background scolding him. I laugh through the phone. He walks over to a private place before shutting the door.
"Have you and Mack still not spoken?" he asked me.
"No. Not since the argument that day. I just don't get it. I thought she would want to marry me one day. Now she doesn't trust me enough?"
"Do you blame her? Hunter she loved you and then you broke her heart. You ruined her image of what a happy marriage could be for her and she's just recently started trusting you again. Marriage is a big thing, and should be thought about in detail." he lectures.
I raise an eyebrow at him. "Say's the guy who got married to the runaway bride on her wedding day?" I mock.
"Ha, ha." he laughs sarcastically. "It was different for me and Sapph. We're spontaneous people. You and Mack, you think things out clearly, you weigh out the pros and cons. You're smart. Be smart, Hunter."
I hate to admit it, but the guy's right. "I hate you." I told him. "No you don't." My phone starts ringing midcall and I see that it's Mackenzie. "Hey, Eric I gotta go. Mackenzie's ringing me."
"Okay, I gotta go too, Sapphire's waiting for me." he smirks.
I make a face of disgust and answer Mackenzie's call. "Where are you? I've been here for nearly an hour."
"Hi Mr Green Eyes." a voice says through the phone. That's not her voice. That's Zander.
"Zander what the fuck are you doing with Mackenzie's phone?" I yell harshly.
"My boy and I want to have some fun with her, embarrass her, the way she did with us. Take a look." I hear my phone ping and it's a photo. It's Mackenzie tied up to a chair and duct tape on her mouth. "I'm gonna kill you." I threaten and mean it.
My blood is boiling and my fist is rounding up. "You want your girl? Simple, I want 2 million in cash by the end of tonight, or Mackenzie here is gonna have a rough night."
"You son of a bitch, when I lay my hands on you!"
"You're not gonna do anything." he interrupts me. "Any police, or any games, you're girls gonna have it a lot worse."
He hangs up before I can speak. Fuck.
