"Wanna go back to the bar?" Jenna asked.
I checked the time on my phone.
"Jenna it's not even 7 yet."
"So? Nate, Jack, and Andrew might be there."
"Good point."
'They were cool.' Katie scribbled down and passed to me.
Scribbled might not be the right word to describe Katie's writing. Scribble implies that the writing isn't neat, which in her case, it always was. I suppose if writing is your only way to communicate, you end up writing neatly.
"I guess we should at least try."

As we walked into Benson bar, my attention was immediately directed to the three stools we had sat at the night before. Sure enough, there were Nate, Jack and Andrew.
"We figured we'd see you guys here." I said, sitting next to Andrew.
"Well, you're right." Nate retorted, raising his bottle of beer to his lips.
"You performing tonight?" Jenna asked.
She ordered our usual drinks.
"If you want us to." Andrew said, awaiting a reply specifically from Katie.
She nodded and gave yet another of her "I wish I could talk" smiles.
"Well then let's do it!" Jack said enthusiastically. "But i want to finish my fucking beer first."
Nate rolled his eyes.
"Is Katie always so quiet?" Andrew asked as I took a sip of my drink.
I took a moment to swallow it before answering.
"She's a mute."
