I think this is where i'm supposed to write about how sorry I am for not updating and things going on in my life so here is my excuse/update: I bought a horse head mask on amazon

Has anyone ever told you what it feels like to wake up from a coma? Well, you would probably assume that you wake up feeling refreshed considering that you've been asleep for (in this case) a few weeks, but that is not at all true. I woke up and the first thought that popped into my mind was "I want to go back to sleep" but considering that I looked around and realized "hey i'm in a hospital bed with wires in my arm", my curiosity overcame my urge for sleep. I saw Andrew, sitting next to a bed in a glass enclosed room across from the one I was in.

"Andrew" I said, trying to get his attention.

He didn't look up. I said his name again. He turned around, looked at me, and rushed to my side.

"Casey" He simply said, getting emotional.

"Don't cry..."

I was pretty damn confused as to not only why I was in a hospital, but also as to why my fiancé was on the verge of tears.

"You're ok" He said, probably more to himself than to me.

By now there was a nurse rushing into the room.

"Is she awake?!" She asked.

"Yes"

She rushed back out and came back with 2 doctors, one who began asking me various questions on how I felt as the other began scribbling down my vitals. He took a blood sample from my arm and ordered for a CAT scan. There were strict orders for me to not fall asleep, not even so much as to close my eyes longer than to blink until after they cleared that my brain was functioning properly (well, as properly as possible).

"Why am I here?" I asked Andrew after the doctors went to prep for the scan and the nurse left to run the blood work.

"You.... were in a coma"

"A coma? Why?"

"Sarah-"

It all came back.

"I remember now"

We were silent for a moment.

"How long was I in the coma for?" I finally asked.

"7 weeks"

"Holy shit! What did I miss?"

"Let's wait until after this CAT scan. I don't want you to have too much to process"

After the CAT scan, I was cleared to be able to sleep and talk as much as I wanted to. Andrew explained everything that had happened, Nattie and Katie's short marriage, Jack's return to New York, Nate's proposal to Jenna. I processed everything, asking a bunch of questions. I told Andrew to wait until the morning to call our friends so I could sleep. He agreed yet refused to leave, just sleeping in a chair next to me.

The next morning began with lots of tears and hugs from our friends who seemed to drop what they were doing to come, more tests, and more conversation with Andrew. Every once in a while when I was resting, Andrew would go over and talk to a little girl named Rose, who was in the hospital for a brain injury. He didn't say much more than that while I was there.

After 5 days, I had to begin physical therapy to get my muscles working properly after not being worked at all for quite a while. It was funny, my legs not cooperating with my brain. It didn't take long to be able to walk again, and eventually I was allowed to leave my bed to walk around with Andrew instead of just to go to physical therapy. The first morning this was allowed, Andrew told me there was someone he wanted me to meet. I followed him to the room across the hall from mine, where I finally met Rose, an adorable little girl with bandages wrapped around her head.

"Rose, this is my fiancé Casey" Andrew said when we walked in. "Casey, this is Rose"

"Hi Rose"

"Hi Casey"

A few days after meeting Rose, I was evaluated to be released from the hospital. Everything was cleared and I would be allowed to go home the following day. I convinced Andrew to go home for the night after about an hour of arguing. He left at around 8. I couldn't sleep, so I decided to get up and go for a short walk, just to try to tire myself out (considering that even a short walk around the neurology unit was enough to make me want to sleep for days). When I was coming back, I heard a small voice.

"Casey?"

I turned around. It was coming from Rose.

"Yeah?" I asked, leaning on her door frame.

"I just wanted to tell you goodnight. Oh, and I think that Andrew loves you."

I laughed a little.

"You know, you might be onto something. Goodnight, Rose"

"Goodnight, Casey"
