"Oh."
"Yeah. It doesn't distract her from anything though. Just, you know... Talking."
I frowned a bit at the fact that I could talk and she couldn't. I knew damn well that she would use her words to do more good than I ever would.
"So... How did the three of you meet?" Andrew asked.
"We were all dating the same guy. Dumped his sorry ass. And we bonded through that, I guess."
Just the thought of Dalton made me cringe. He kinda reminded me of Ted Bundy, that serial killer that reeled his victims in by sweet-talking them. You know, minus the killing.
"Kind of funny when you think about it."
"I guess. What about you three?" I was eager to change the topic.
"We were all in bands. Jack and I left ours and Nate's broke up. So Nate called me up and I called up Jack and decided to settle matters in New York City."
"Fascinating. You write your own songs?"
"Yeah."
"Amazing."
My phone started ringing.
"Float On?" He asked.
"Yes." I laughed, silencing it.
"You could get that if you want."
"It's just my parents. I'll call them later."
"You sure? I don't mind."
"I'm sure."
I was more than sure.
"Alright, i'm ready to play. What about you guys?" Nate stood up and fixed his suspenders.
Andrew finished off his beer and stood up.
As the trio went up on stage and engaged the audience in a brief conversation. They were amazing tonight. I ended up watching Andrew the whole time. He was so into the music. It was obvious that he genuinely loved what he did.
'You like him' Katie handed to me.
"Who?"
'Andrew'
"How'd you know?"
'It was as obvious as the landscaper killing that college student in that episode of 48 hours.'
Katie smirked.
"Shut up."
The guys came off stage obviously feeling pretty good, and rightfully so.
"I don't even think I need to drink any more this evening." Jack said.
Nate gasped and Andrew laughed.
"What? I'm serious!" Jack insisted.
"Well we could go back home." Nate suggested.
"We have like, food and shit if you guys wanna come."
"Sure."
